The Process Engineer will be responsible for process design, operations, and change implementation. Have the capability to assess the potential of and implement process changes to improve process safety, reliability, and efficiency, reduce cost and improve sustainability of operations. Job Duties and Responsibilities • Assess the development, configuration, and optimization of chemical and associated industrial process modifications, risk assessment, hazard assessment, cost analysis and overall operation impact. • Being the point of contact for the process and providing direction to production and technical team as needed • Be responsible for troubleshooting operating equipment • Review and revise process documentation as well as provide operator training • This person will also evaluate, select, and supervise contractor services, participate in HAZWOP studies, and prepare process flow sheets and P&IDs • Analyze data and write technical reports • Monitor performance of processes throughout production • Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations • Awareness of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards • Performs other duties as required and assigned Qualifications and Knowledge • The candidate should have direct chemical production experience and be responsible for designing and specifying equipment, while meeting environmental and safety regulations • The candidate should be creative, a self-starter, and budget and deadline oriented • Provide support to plant maintenance activities by serving as technical resource on repairs and maintenance and in providing input in decisions effecting the safe and reliable operation of electrical systems and equipment. • Participate in periodic audits of operating electrical equipment to ensure compliance with corporate and other regulatory requirements. • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in electrical equipment groups such as motors, generators, switch gear, cable, UPS systems, battery systems, and high voltage systems. • Must have exposure to electrical engineering design principles and methodologies. • Proficiency in MS Office. Willingness to participate in a team-oriented environment. • Ability to process oral and written information effectively. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Extended hours and possible shift work are to be expected during periods of high workloads • Experience in documentation and implementation of engineering project plans • Experience in working with general contractors and suppliers in Engineering projects • Physical requirements include the ability to climb ladders, enter through confined spaces, and work near hazardous chemicals • Experience in design, repair, and analysis of electronic systems. • Experience with contractual related project/work environment, in providing engineering support to electronic maintenance and modification systems, and in establishing processes/guidelines for electric design. • Experience in chemical manufacturing is preferred • Effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills • Experience with data driven process improvement such as Six Sigma • Working knowledge of Pi-Vision is a plus • Must be able to be respirator qualified Education, Experience and Certifications • B.S. in Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering • Minimum of 4 years in chemical production environment • Ability to speak Japanese is a plus We offer an outstanding benefits package which includes: 89% employer paid medical, 80% employer paid dental, vision, LTD, STD, Life Insurance, and a matching 401k plan.
