Position Overview

arenaflex is seeking a Remote Part‑Time Community Chat Moderator to oversee the official Discord server that serves as the hub for our learners, developers, and community enthusiasts. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic, virtual environments and who possess a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of fairness, and the ability to act swiftly when community guidelines are breached.

As a moderator, you will be the first line of defense against disruptive behavior, ensuring that conversations remain constructive, respectful, and aligned with arenaflex’s core values of equality and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor live chat streams across multiple Discord channels, promptly identifying messages that violate community rules.
• Delete offending content, issue warnings, mute, or ban users in accordance with established moderation policies.
• Investigate user‑submitted reports, gather evidence, and document incidents for future reference.
• Collaborate with arenaflex’s community management team to refine moderation guidelines and improve response protocols.
• Maintain a calm and professional demeanor while handling high‑stress situations, ensuring that all actions are transparent and fair.
• Provide constructive feedback to community members about acceptable behavior, fostering a culture of mutual respect.
• Participate in weekly moderation debriefs, sharing insights and suggesting enhancements to the moderation workflow.
• Stay up‑to‑date with Discord’s evolving features, tools, and best practices to leverage automation where appropriate.

Essential Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Demonstrated experience (paid or volunteer) moderating online communities, preferably on Discord or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of Discord’s moderation tools, including bans, mutes, timeouts, and role management.
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to convey rules and expectations clearly.
