[Remote] Computer Aided Design Designer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The Judge Group is seeking a highly skilled CAD Drafter/Designer with expertise in Creo and Windchill to support the design and development of critical engineering systems. This role involves creating 3D models and detailed drawings for umbilical systems, ground support equipment, and launch pad structures while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using Creo
- Create complex assemblies including mechanical systems, routing components, and structural framework
- Ensure designs meet internal modeling conventions and best practices
- Design and release umbilical assemblies, routing hardware, and retraction/release mechanisms
- Define system interfaces with vehicles, payloads, and ground support systems
- Develop documentation such as connector pinouts and fluid line schematics
- Design and release test fixtures, stands, and instrumentation support hardware
- Define mechanical, electrical, and fluid interfaces for units under test
- Develop models and drawings for launch pad structures and associated systems
- Document interfaces between ground infrastructure and vehicle systems
- Create designs for lifting fixtures, transport frames, handling rings, and rigging systems
- Define load paths, lifting points, and operational requirements
- Generate detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings per ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) standards
- Apply proper dimensioning, tolerancing, and annotation practices
- Ensure drawings meet manufacturing, inspection, and quality requirements
- Manage product data within Windchill (or similar PLM tools)
- Execute Configuration Notices (CN) / Engineering Change processes
- Take designs from concept → modeling → review → release → revision control
- Maintain traceability and revision history for all design artifacts
- Work with design engineers, stress analysts, and manufacturing teams
- Support design reviews, model checks, and validation activities
- Incorporate feedback from analysis and testing into design updates
Skills
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design or equivalent experience
- Strong proficiency in: Creo (Pro/ENGINEER) – parts, assemblies, drawings
- Windchill or similar PLM systems
- GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards
- Experience with: Complex assemblies and large CAD models
- Engineering change and configuration management processes
- Manufacturing drawing creation and detailing
- Experience with NASA MSFC standards or aerospace modeling conventions
- Knowledge of: Fluid systems and schematics
- Electrical connector pinouts
- Interface definition documentation
- Prior work on: Ground support equipment, Launch infrastructure, Tooling or handling systems
- Experience with: Cross-organization data exchange and model translation
