[Remote] Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer

They are seeking a Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer to work with developers throughout the software development life cycle, ensuring code can be reliably and repeatedly released with high quality.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer a great experience for developers working in web-based environments through automation, virtualization, and process improvement
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that let the team reliably and repeatedly release to production on demand
  • Manage cloud infrastructure and create and maintain infrastructure as code, standardizing deployment processes
  • Protect sensitive data by applying security and privacy best practices, conducting audits and risk analyses, and planning and implementing remediations that meet federal security standards
  • Achieve technical excellence by advocating for and adhering to lean-agile engineering practices such as simple design and automated testing
  • Build up the organization’s engineering capacity through coaching, knowledge sharing, and other enablement practices

Skills

  • Understand the general concepts of modern software development and can work closely with software engineers
  • Able to work in a cloud-centric world, including managing disparate, interconnected systems and ensuring their availability, reliability, and resiliency
  • Can enable teams to deliver value to users and the business continuously (e.g., CI/CD pipelines)
  • Know how to build secure, compliant applications and defend against common vulnerabilities
  • Can work with software engineers to instrument applications and configure infrastructure for monitoring, metrics, alerting, logging, auditability, and compliance
  • Know how to create and maintain infrastructure as code and standardize deployment processes
  • Experience mentoring engineers and raising the operational bar across a team or product (staff level)
  • Ability to work successfully within a professional services environment (e.g., can communicate effectively with clients)
  • Passionate about creating better public outcomes through great government services

  • Ability to travel for work from time to time
  • All work must be conducted within the U.S., excluding U.S. territories. Some federal contracts require U.S. citizenship to be eligible for employment
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future without sponsorship
  • As a government contractor, you may be required to obtain a public trust or security clearance
  • You may be required to complete a company background check successfully
  • Some of our available roles are on federal contracts that require a degree or additional years of experience as a substitute
  • Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments (e.g., FedRAMP, FISMA)
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud or other government cloud environments
  • Experience supporting systems that handle sensitive personal data (e.g., tax, financial, or benefits information)
  • Prior experience working in the civic tech space
  • Experience working in a remote-team environment
