Technical Director Intern, Global Technology – Summer 2026
Pixar Animation Studios is offering an exciting opportunity for students passionate about pursuing a career as a Technical Director on animated feature films. As a Global Technology Technical Director Intern, you will collaborate with other TDs to write software that enhances workflow and supports various departments, including lighting and animation.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with other TDs to write software that improves workflow and provides film-specific functionality for other departments, including lighting and animation
- Demonstrate strong technical skills and a passion for building high-end visual imagery in support of the storytelling process
- Possess programming skills in C/C++ and/or a scripting language such as Python
- Demonstrate an understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, lighting, texture, and form
- Utilize 3D software packages like Houdini, Maya, Katana, RenderMan, etc
Skills
- You possess programming skills in C/C++ and/or a scripting language such as Python
- Your educational background helps you demonstrate an understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, lighting, texture, and form
- You have experience using 3D software packages like Houdini, Maya, Katana, RenderMan, etc
- Experience using Unix/Linux systems
- Minimally a junior in college working towards a BS or MS in computer science, computer graphics, digital art or a related technical field
- Recent grads who are within the first year post graduation are eligible to apply
- You already possess the legal right to work in the United States
- This is a full-time position. You must be available to work on-site Mon 6.1.26 - Fri 8.21.26
- A demo reel demonstrating your sense of aesthetic
