What you'll do: As a member of our Data Platform team, you’ll help build infrastructure and tools for collecting and processing data in streaming and batch pipelines. Your work will power access to data for a variety of use-cases, be it real-time stream processing, online data access, analytic data exploration or big data processing. Our mission is to enable our community of data scientists, analysts, and developers to derive faster insights and reduce TTM in order to fuel Viasat growth. The day-to-day: In this Software Engineer role, you will work on the core components of data ingestion and integration processing that intakes ~4 billon events per hour with data volume in excess of 30TB per day. You will help craft and implement new features and improvements to our data platform to advance component architecture towards strategic data governance/management objectives while providing ongoing support, monitoring, and maintenance of deployed products. Additionally, you will monitor new technologies/technology practices for potential use within the Company. What you'll need:
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics or related field
- 1-2 years of experience in software development experience using at least two of the following: Java, Scala, Python, C or C++.
- Familiarity with RDBMS technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, etc.)
- Familiarity with at least one cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience in Linux based systems, docker, and code versioning tooling (Git/CI/CD).

Salary range: $76,500.00 - $120,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $95,000.00- $142,000.00/ annually : At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
