We are seeking an exceptional Principal Site Reliability Engineer to join our team at Ashby, a cutting-edge software company that empowers talent teams to build efficient, delightful, and respectful hiring processes. As a Principal Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of our platform, which is used by some of the fastest-growing companies in the industry.

Ashby is experiencing rapid growth, with tens of millions in ARR, over 2500 customers, and a growth rate of over 100% year-over-year. We are committed to delivering a seamless experience to our customers, and our infrastructure team is at the forefront of this effort. As a Principal Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the systems that enable our product engineers to ship features quickly and reliably.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, including optimizing our homegrown ultra-dynamic recruiting DSL-to-SQL compiler, creating automated guardrails for security and privacy, and implementing infrastructure to support an event-driven architecture and data warehouse. You will also collaborate with our product engineers to define SLOs and implement corresponding SLIs, ensuring that our platform is highly available and performant.

You should be comfortable with evaluating risk, making informed decisions, and communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable systems to support our growing platform
  • Collaborate with product engineers to define SLOs and implement corresponding SLIs
  • Optimize our homegrown ultra-dynamic recruiting DSL-to-SQL compiler and create tools to help developers do so
  • Create automated guardrails for security and privacy of customer data
  • Implement infrastructure to support an event-driven architecture and data warehouse
  • Work with the business and engineering teams to define and implement technical roadmaps

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on reliability and scalability
  • Strong background in programming languages such as TypeScript, Node.js, and React
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure, including AWS and Kubernetes
  • Strong understanding of security and privacy principles, with experience implementing automated guardrails
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams
