Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized AVID Tutor to join our team at Judson Middle School in Salem, OR. As an AVID Tutor, you will play a critical role in supporting students in achieving college and career readiness skills. You will work closely with AVID students in small group tutorials and individually, providing guidance and support in all academic areas.Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-person tutorial sessions that foster collaborative learning and peer-to-peer teaching
- Determine concepts that need focus in tutorial sessions based on student worksheets, notes, and discussions
- Empower students to take ownership of their learning, guiding them with strategies for independent success
- Assist students in all subject areas, utilizing textbooks, materials, and AVID classroom resources
- Provide constructive feedback on student work, both online and in-person
- Support AVID scholars through care and connection, setting a tone of excellence and high expectations
- Collaborate with the AVID coordinator/teacher to monitor student progress and address areas of concern
Requirements:
- Excellent role model of a motivated, organized, and successful college student
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a supportive manner with secondary students
- Familiarity with AVID program principles and methodologies
