Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Network Deployment, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2+ years of experience in DWDM, TCP/IP, or system design operations methodology
  • Experience with Network Installation, Network Configuration, Network Infrastructure, Network Operations, Optical Engineering and Operations, IP, and Project Management
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain TS NV1 clearance under the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience directing field operation technicians, engineers, or vendors in a telecommunications working environment
  • Experience collaborating across multiple levels and functions
  • Knowledge of ISP/OSP Network Architecture, Data Center Architecture
  • Ability to engage/influence tactical and strategic decision-making

About the Job:

As a Metro Network Deployment Engineer at Google, you'll play a critical role in operating our global network reliably and at scale. You'll have a direct impact on design and feature enhancements, ensuring our systems run smoothly and efficiently. Our network generates a constant stream of challenges, requiring innovation and expertise in evolving technologies.

Behind every Google product and service is a complex architecture built by our Technical Infrastructure team. We're responsible for developing and maintaining our data centers, building the next generation of Google platforms, and keeping our networks up and running. We're proud to be the engineers' engineers, and we love taking things apart to rebuild them.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage oversight and Quality Assurance (QA) of installation technicians for rack, stack, and installation of networking equipment
  • Test and commission routers, optical transport equipment, and other network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network
  • Generate implementation plans and provide technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities
  • Collaborate with project management, network engineering, and the Engineering team to identify potential problems in network installations
  • Own network documentation, updating, and maintaining network drawings and plans
