Join Our Team: Special Education Para Educator Opportunity in Austin, TX

Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Para Educator to join our team at Austin Public School District. As a Para Educator, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, assisting teachers, and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized support to students with special needs, including assisting with classwork, assignments, and tests
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure proper behavior and safety of students
• Assist with daily activities, such as supervising students and operating equipment related to job assignments
• Tutor students in small groups and provide one-on-one support as needed
• Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment, promoting diversity and inclusion

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Associate's degree (AA or AS) or 60 semester credits of post-secondary education (equivalent of 2 years)
• Passing score on the paraprofessional assessment test (or willingness to take the test)
• Ability and interest in providing assistance to children with special needs
• Passing pre-employment physical
