Job Description

The PathwayConnect Team Grader is an important part of the instructional team. Team Graders apply their skill and subject matter expertise in assessing student work by properly utilizing program-developed rubrics and feedback templates and diligently following outlined policies and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent grading, actionable feedback, and timely turnaround times. Important: By applying for this position, you are indicating that you are currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and are willing to physically reside and perform the work in (Utah or Idaho). This is a part-time work from home position with the following flexible schedule:

  • 10-20 hours per week (may vary week-to-week)
  • At least 4 days worked each week (Mondays and Tuesdays are especially heavy grading days)
  • Minimum 2 hour working sessions
  • Required attendance at periodic team meetings (as established by the department)

Responsibilities

  • Meet rigorous department certification criteria to show mastery of content to be assessed
  • Apply university and department-level procedures and materials in evaluating student work (including use of rubrics and department created and maintained feedback templates) to ensure feedback meets established accuracy and quality standards
  • Use authoritative content expertise to respond quickly to student questions and concerns about assignment scoring and coordinate with appropriate supervisors for quick resolution and fair determination of student performance
  • Participate regularly in training courses and/or training meetings to receive additional guidance and feedback
  • Use feedback received through training and regular quality assurance checks from the evaluation team and department leadership to improve performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field with strong academic performance in the subjects of basic English and Math
  • Experience in online learning/teaching with at-risk learners is preferred
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to BYU-Pathway Worldwide’s mission, defining characteristics, and student population
  • An ability to follow and apply strict procedures and guidelines with accuracy and efficiency
  • An ability to maintain focus (even through repetitive tasks) while also managing complex cognitive loads
  • An ability to adapt quickly to new processes and procedures and also new technology
  • Strong interpersonal skills— specifically an ability to be considerate, respectful, unbiased, and professional in emotionally charged situations
  • Strong track record of reliability in following through on commitments and getting the job done properly and in a timely manner (with little prompting)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
