We’re looking for a highly technical Engineering Manager to lead a senior team of engineers building our ML Platform and Ecosystem. The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about developer and data science efficiency through excellent planning, techniques, and architectures and is also able to jump into tough problems to help resolve them.

What You’ll Do

  • Be accountable for all aspects of the team’s performance including velocity of feature delivery, quality, operational excellence, hiring, retention, professional growth, and well-being
  • Foster a culture of clarity, alignment, and confidence to help the team deliver on goals effectively
  • Work with the Sr Managers of Data Science and Machine Learning Research to drive out the strategy, roadmap, and architecture machine learning ecosystem.
  • Design, build, and launch new ML capabilities to improve the overall quality and experience of software development at SmarterDx
  • Champion MLOps and LLMOps practices across the organization
  • Support our platform in production

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of ML engineering or software engineering experience
  • 5+ years delivering MLOps capabilities
  • Experience leading software teams to deliver quality technical solutions
  • Experience providing tooling and capabilities for a data science and machine learning department
  • Expertise running an agile process (preferably Kanban) for a team and fluency with the agile toolkit
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience in machine learning libraries (Pytorch, Tensorflow)
  • Experience with deploying and managing ML models in production environments, including familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with end-to-end machine learning project lifecycle, from data collection and model training to deployment and monitoring.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working at startups, especially in the health tech space
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • You're a former startup founder, or have managed a team at a fast-growing startup
  • 3+ years as an engineering manager
  • Experience supporting data engineering tools like Airflow and dbt.
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Deployment of LLM systems into Production environments.

Compensation

$220-270k base + equity incentives
