John Read Middle School: Special Education Teacher
Date Available: Commencing with the 2025-2026 school year. Official start date will be August 25, 2025.Salary & Benefits: Appropriate salary / step of the Redding Education Association’s bargaining unit contract. Comprehensive benefits.Qualifications:
- CT teaching certification in Special Education K-12
- Experience with students with behavioral needs a plus
- Prior experience working with children with special needs a plus
- Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be flexible, creative, and demonstrate strong organizational skills
- Must be highly motivated and self-directed
- Work collaboratively with individual student teams
- Provide Case Manager services, including development, implementation, and monitoring of IEP goals and objectives; liaison with general education teachers; communication with home; running Team meetings.
- Attend PPT’s and other meetings for assigned students and present up to date information on progress toward goals and objectives
- Conduct and present educational testing results, using this information to review and revise current IEP goals and objectives
- Collect and manage data pertaining to various student goals and objectives
- Ensure that all related services and class accommodations are being implemented in the appropriate settings
- Participate in professional development and other meetings with the special education department and school-wide faculty
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials and instructional approaches; serve as a resource to the general education staff in regards to working with a diverse learner population
- Implement and monitor behavior support and incentive plans for assigned students ? Testing and instruction at the middle and elementary schools may be required.
