Job title: Senior Structural Engineer 1 - Government Services in Amarillo, TX at Sargent & Lundy Company: Sargent & Lundy Job description: DescriptionNOTE: This is a remote position with the expectation of occasional travel to a client side near Amarillo, Texas.Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering and consulting to the management and operating contractors for the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). What does this mean? You can be a part of multi-discipline teams developing and designing facilities, systems, and equipment for the nation’s major research laboratories and the legacy nuclear weapons production complex. This critical engineering work is meaningful and challenging – work you can be proud to have been a part of.This is a senior-level design engineering position that offers a variety of challenging opportunities in Structural Engineering and will provide an excellent opportunity for career advancement.
  • Support Structural design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design team
  • Apply structural engineering expertise to the design and qualification of structures, systems, and components
  • Prepare engineering calculations/analyses, design drawings, specifications, and engineering reports
  • Maintain assigned tasks within schedule and budget to fit the needs of the projects
  • Attend project meetings and perform field walkdowns; communicate clearly in meetings with clients and summarize meeting notes in a clear and timely manner
  • Mentor new engineers
QualificationsMust be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.Essential skills and experience:
  • Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance
  • BSCE or BSSE degree or similar from an ABET-accredited program
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in civil and structural engineering
  • Experience with producing engineering designs for foundations, structures, and support structures
Valued, but not required skills and experience:
  • Multiple years of experience in a nuclear environment (DOE preferred, commercial or Navy), highly desirable
  • Structural Engineering (SE) Licensure
  • Field Engineering and Construction Experience
  • Experience with ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC
  • Proficiency in finite element analysis software such as ANSYS or SAP2000 or equivalent
