Job description: Senior Inpatient Medical Coder (Remote) - ICD-10 SpecialistWe're seeking an experienced Inpatient Medical Coder to join our healthcare coding team. In this role, you'll utilize your expertise in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding to ensure accurate clinical documentation and optimal reimbursement outcomes for our hospital system.Core Responsibilities:
- Assign and validate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for hospital inpatient visits
- Review and analyze medical records and Computer-Assisted Coding (CAC) suggestions
- Ensure accurate DRG assignments and Present on Admission (POA) indicators
- Maintain 95% accuracy rate and productivity of 2.75 charts per hour
- Perform specialized audits of CAC software recommendations
- Review clinical documentation for completeness and specificity
- Identify and resolve documentation gaps through appropriate channels
- Support quality measures and regulatory compliance initiatives
- 2+ years of acute care inpatient coding experience (hospital-based)
- Current certification in one of the following:
- CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
- RHIT (Registered Health Information Technologist)
- RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator)
- Profound knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines and conventions
- Experience with electronic health records and CAC systems
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management
- Experience with natural language processing systems
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory requirements
