For additional information on remote work at Penn State, see .JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTSThe Department of Entomology in the College of Agricultural Sciences is seeking applicants for part-time job of a Summer Research Assistant working alongside a current PhD student who is working on insect biodiversity and monitoring in Stone Valley Research Forest, and who uses two common traps used for pollinator monitoring, blue-vane traps and bee bowls, and one newer technique, clear-vane traps, to compare trap efficacy but also to overcome trap bias to understand how biodiversity changes in different forest areas across time. Traps were placed in 2023 and 2024 for 1 week in 4 unique months per year, with tens of thousands of insects collected. .Job duties to include:

• Help identify these materials to the family-level
• Provide training on insect identification and museum curation techniques

Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:

• Interest in insect biodiversity and museum collections
• Microsoft Excel
• Prior study of insect biodiversity preferred but not required.
