Engineering Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for leading complex software programs in support of launching new products and improving existing ones. They achieve this through the application of project management tools to drive high level collaboration and coordination with various functions within engineering team as well as other functions, track progress, and provide detailed status reports to management. Their function is essential to ensuring teams define and achieve the objectives and goals required to complete projects on time and budget.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide cross-functional project leadership of software development initiatives as part of a broader program.
  • Drive collaboration and coordination between multiple engineering teams to facilitate the project planning process and creation of comprehensive timelines considering available resources, dependencies, priorities, risks and other constraints.
  • Take ownership of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Generate the necessary documentation and assist teams with creating project plans, protocols, reports, etc.
  • Track project progress, risks, and provide detailed status reports.
  • Interface with external partners to facilitate joint development efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a comparable educational background or experience
  • 2-3 years’ project management experience in software development, preferably in the biotech space.
  • Certification or formal training in Project Management and experience using resource management tools is a nice-to-have.
  • Experience compiling GANTT charts and project plans.
  • Experience with applying Agile methodology to software development.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment is a nice-to-have.
  • Experience with using Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) as well as Smartsheet is a nice-to-have.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent interpersonal skills in addition to having the ability to effectively communicate within the project teams as well as to top level management.
  • Excellent organization and time management/multi-tasking skills (comfortable in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.San Carlos, CA $1—$1 USD
