This can help customers feel more empowered and engaged in the shopping process. • Obtain and sustain a profound understanding of the items sold in the store and have the proficiency to address any concerns and suggest product options. • Tasked with the responsibility of ensuring a cordial disposition, creating a friendly atmosphere, and initiating conversations while offering assistance to customers. • Our top priority is to ensure that customer transactions at the check lane are processed quickly, accurately, and with utmost efficiency. • The hours for operation as outlined in the schedule should be followed strictly. • Confirm the exact payment for the merchandise; provide correct change; carry out the handling of checks, credit, and debit charges in line with proper departmental documentation and task execution. • Be adept at utilizing the Point of Sale system to handle multiple tenders, intricate loyalty programs, rain checks, coupons, and checkout procedures as stipulated by the company. • The sale of merchandise can be registered on the register by either gliding the items over the scanning surface, utilizing handheld scanners, or entering input data manually via the 10-key pad. • Acquire a thorough understanding of the company's procedures for managing cash and work honestly and efficiently to control losses. • Acknowledge and abide by the protocols concerning items that have restricted sales, including Fireworks, Tobacco, Videos, and Alcohol. • To minimize the risk of inventory loss, carry out inventory checks by inspecting basket bottoms, scanning all merchandise for accurate inventory counts, refraining from manually entering sales, and following standard closing procedures as applicable. • Meeting productivity milestones by quickly completing transactions within the given timeframe. • Keep in line with the company's policy by raising any concerns related to pricing discrepancies to the relevant department. • Stay informed about the present, upcoming, festival-themed, and special commercials. • Don't forget to mention to customers the various company directives, including Kroger Personal Finance, fuel points, customer service surveys, and fundraising requests. • All surfaces in the checkout area must be cleaned regularly to maintain a tidy and sanitary environment. • Enhance safety programs by strictly following safety protocols and recognizing potential safety hazards, then promptly reporting any hazardous conditions to store management. • Inform the management immediately in case of occurrences related to customers or employees. • The reporting of safety hazards and unlawful actions like robbery, theft or fraud is important. • Follow all rules and regulations established by the jurisdiction you are operating in, as well as any state or federal regulations, and guidelines set by the company. • To maintain a smooth operation, it is necessary to adhere to the existing guidelines for merchandise display, customer care, cash regulation, labor management, supply chain management, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food hygiene, associate engagement, and customer interaction. • Fulfillment of the key responsibilities of this position is a requirement, whether or not reasonable accommodations are available.
