An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen at the New York City Transit Authority for a part-time Bus Operator for City Routes. As an integral part of the city’s public transportation network, you will be responsible for ensuring that thousands of commuters can get to their destinations safely and on time.
Job Description
As a Bus Operator, you will operate various types of buses, transporting passengers over specified city routes according to time schedules, assisting passengers with baggage, and collecting tickets or cash fares. You will also be responsible for inspecting your vehicle before each shift, reporting any mechanical issues promptly, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of your vehicle.

Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include:
– Safely operating the bus on a timed schedule and route.
– Assisting passengers with boarding and disembarking.
– Collecting fares, answering questions about schedules, routes, and transfer points.
– Reporting delays, mechanical problems, and accidents.
– Inspecting the bus before and after each shift.

Educational Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with passenger endorsement is also required.
Experience
Previous experience in a similar role is preferred, but not required. We provide comprehensive training for all new hires.
