[Remote] Software Engineer (Early Career)

They are currently seeking a Software Engineer to join their Health Research & Analytics team, focusing on developing advanced Information Technology and Data Management solutions. The role involves solving technical problems, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and managing projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Solving technical problems using computer science and systems development approaches in areas that require mathematical and/or statistical methods and knowledge
  • Communicating on a regular basis with project leaders, team members and client stakeholders including mathematicians, computer scientists, statisticians, epidemiologist, and engineers
  • Proactively managing expectations and meeting deadlines in a fast-moving, agile software development environment
  • Conducting and participating in assigned projects with minimum supervision and within time and budget constraints
  • Continued job performance improvement through on-the-job training and outside study
  • Thrive in a multi-disciplinary environment solving problems in a variety of application areas
  • Minimal domestic travel

Skills

  • Must be US Person by definition of US Export Laws. Candidates must be able to obtain Security/CDC clearances as required by clients
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Science, or Computer Engineering
  • Demonstrated competency in object-oriented programming with Java/JavaEE or C#
  • Demonstrated experience with web development technologies such as HTML, XML, JSON, CSS, and JavaScript and accompanying frameworks and libraries (e.g., jQuery, Bootstrap, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL and relational database engines such as SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle
  • Demonstrated competency with development tools (e.g., NetBeans, Eclipse, Visual Studio Code, etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet competing deadlines successfully
  • Experience with developing, testing, documenting, and maintaining computer code for deadline driven projects
  • Experience with user interface and user experience design and implementation
  • Experience with Python, SAS, R, C, C++
  • Experience working in an Agile Development environment
  • Experience designing, implementing, and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Experience with additional JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue)
  • Experience participating in requirements gathering process, providing user documentation, and writing clear, concise comments within programs
  • Experience with Linux-based Operating Systems (e.g., Ubuntu, RedHat, CentOS, etc.)
  • Experience using version control software (e.g., Git, Subversion, Mercurial, etc.)
  • Previous experience with Battelle or a Contract Research Organization
