GREEN TO READ™ (GTR™) PHASE IA TECHNICAL SCOPE BRIEF IMPORTANT PROJECT STATUS NOTICE Wordsmyth Literacy is currently preparing a proposal for submission under a U.S. Department of Education / Institute of Education Sciences (IES) SBIR Phase IA funding opportunity. At this stage, we are seeking technical feedback regarding feasibility, architecture, implementation considerations, and prototype scope. We welcome input from experienced iOS/iPadOS developers with expertise in SwiftUI, offline-first applications, Apple Pencil interaction, and device synchronization. The development budget referenced in this posting is contingent upon successful SBIR funding. No development contract will be awarded unless funding is secured. Our immediate goal is to identify qualified technical collaborators, obtain feedback regarding the proposed architecture, and determine whether the project is technically feasible within a Phase IA prototype scope. Developers interested in providing feedback are encouraged to comment on:

  • overall technical feasibility,
  • recommended architecture approaches,
  • potential implementation risks,
  • scope refinement opportunities,
  • and estimated development effort.

If funding is awarded, qualified candidates may be considered for prototype-development opportunities associated with the Phase IA project. PROJECT OVERVIEW Wordsmyth Literacy is developing Green to Read™ (GTR™), an educational technology platform designed to support educator responsiveness during multisensory structured literacy intervention for students with dyslexia and related reading difficulties. The proposed system is not intended to diagnose emotional states or psychological conditions. Rather, it explores whether interaction-based telemetry metrics may support educator awareness and instructional responsiveness during literacy intervention sessions. PROJECT CONCEPT Green to Read™ is envisioned as a dual-tablet educational support platform consisting of:

  • a learner-facing iPad application,
  • an educator-facing dashboard,
  • localized device synchronization,
  • telemetry capture and storage,
  • and structured session workflow supports.

CORE FUNCTIONAL OBJECTIVES The learner-facing interface will support:

  • stylus-based multisensory literacy activities,
  • grapheme-phoneme mapping,
  • phonological segmentation,
  • tracing exercises,
  • and guided decoding workflows.

The educator dashboard is intended to:

  • display session workflows,
  • present instructional prompts,
  • support intervention pacing,
  • log session events,
  • and provide basic session-summary functionality.

The prototype will explore capture of interaction-based telemetry metrics including:

  • response latency,
  • pause duration,
  • stylus interruption frequency,
  • stylus movement variability,
  • task persistence duration,
  • and session interaction timing.

No emotional-state inference, predictive behavioral analytics, or psychological diagnosis functionality is requested or intended. TECHNICAL ARCHITECTURE The proposed architecture is intended to operate:

  • natively within the iPadOS ecosystem,
  • utilizing localized edge-device communication,
  • with offline-first functionality,
  • and without persistent cloud dependency.

Potential technologies may include:

  • Swift / SwiftUI,
  • Multipeer Connectivity,
  • CoreData or SwiftData,
  • local encrypted storage,
  • and Apple Pencil interaction frameworks.

The current prototype scope does not require:

  • machine learning,
  • predictive AI,
  • cloud infrastructure,
  • enterprise user management,
  • or automated emotional-state classification.

PHASE IA OBJECTIVES The proposed Alpha Prototype is intended to demonstrate:

  • synchronization feasibility,
  • telemetry capture stability,
  • educator dashboard usability,
  • workflow integration feasibility,
  • and operational prototype functionality.

Desired deliverables may include:

  • learner interface prototype,
  • educator dashboard prototype,
  • telemetry logging functionality,
  • local synchronization capability,
  • and basic session export/reporting features.

IDEAL COLLABORATOR PROFILE We are seeking technical feasibility consultation and/or potential prototype-development collaboration with individuals possessing experience in:

  • Swift / SwiftUI development,
  • native iPadOS applications,
  • Apple Pencil/stylus interaction,
  • offline-first mobile architecture,
  • Multipeer Connectivity,
  • educational technology systems,
  • mobile UX/UI workflows,
  • and secure localized data architecture.

Preference may be given to developers with:

  • prototype-development experience,
  • educational or healthcare application experience,
  • startup or SBIR experience,
  • or human-centered design experience.

Current discussions are exploratory and intended to support feasibility validation, architecture recommendations, implementation planning, scope estimation, and potential collaboration discussions contingent upon SBIR Phase IA funding. Apply To This Job
