Role Overview – Remote Customer Retention & Sales Specialist

In this fully remote position, you will serve as a Retention Specialist tasked with turning potential cancellations into lasting relationships. You’ll be the frontline advocate for arenaflex, using your problem‑solving expertise, sales acumen, and empathetic communication to retain customers who are considering ending their service. Your success will be measured by your ability to deliver an award‑winning experience, reduce churn, and uncover upsell opportunities that align with the customer’s needs.

The role includes an intensive, paid, on‑site training program (8–12 weeks) at our Wichita, KS hub, where you’ll master product knowledge, negotiation tactics, and the arenaflex culture before transitioning to a fully remote work‑from‑home setup.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Retention: Answer inbound calls from customers seeking to cancel arenaflex services, actively listen to concerns, and present tailored solutions that preserve the relationship.
  • Solution Selling: Identify cross‑sell and upsell opportunities—such as additional sensors, smart‑home integrations, or service upgrades—while maintaining a focus on the customer’s peace of mind.
  • De‑Escalation: Apply advanced de‑escalation techniques to calm frustrated callers, turning negative experiences into positive outcomes.
  • Problem Solving: Quickly diagnose the root cause of cancellation requests, perform on‑the‑spot calculations, and negotiate mutually beneficial resolutions.
  • Multi‑Tasking: Navigate ten or more software tools simultaneously (CRM, billing platforms, knowledge bases, etc.) to provide comprehensive assistance.
  • Documentation: Accurately record interaction details, outcomes, and any follow‑up actions in arenaflex’s systems to ensure continuity and data integrity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Meet and exceed performance metrics, participate in regular coaching sessions, and share best practices with teammates.
  • Policy Mastery: Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of arenaflex policies, product offerings, industry standards, and competitor landscapes.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a sales or retention role where performance was tied to measurable outcomes.
  • At least 2 years of call‑center experience handling inbound customer service or sales calls.
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade, negotiate, and close sales while preserving customer goodwill.
  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or a degree is a plus.
  • Reliable, high‑speed internet (minimum 25 Mbps download / 15 Mbps upload) and a dedicated, distraction‑free home office.
  • Strong attendance record and commitment to completing the full training program.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with smart‑home, security, or IoT products.
  • Proficiency in interpreting contracts, service agreements, and billing statements.
  • Exceptional active‑listening and empathy skills.
  • Ability to perform quick, accurate calculations under pressure.
  • Comfort with multitasking across multiple screens and software platforms.
  • Previous success in meeting or exceeding sales quotas in a remote environment.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Communication: Clear, concise, and courteous verbal communication; ability to articulate complex solutions in simple terms.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Recognize and respond to customer emotions, building trust quickly.
  • Analytical Thinking: Diagnose issues, assess data, and propose effective resolutions.
  • Resilience: Thrive in a high‑volume call environment, maintaining positivity and professionalism.
  • Tech Savvy: Comfortable navigating CRM systems, billing platforms, and knowledge bases.
  • Team Collaboration: Share insights, support peers, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
