About arenaflex – Pioneering the Future of Intelligent Automation

arenaflex is a global leader in advanced robotics, intelligent material handling, and sustainable packaging solutions. Our mission is to transform the way goods move, are stored, and are packaged by combining cutting‑edge mechatronics, AI‑driven software, and environmentally responsible design. With fulfillment centers spanning continents, arenaflex delivers end‑to‑end automation that powers the world’s most demanding supply chains while reducing carbon footprints and waste. If you thrive in an environment where innovation meets real‑world impact, you have found your next career home.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Outstanding Quality Assurance Engineer – Virtual & Simulation Testing to join the Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team. In this role, you will design, develop, and execute high‑fidelity virtual testing platforms that emulate full‑scale robotic cells, autonomous transport vehicles, sortation systems, and packaging technologies. Your simulations will use real‑world software stacks, hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) techniques, and design‑of‑experiment (DOE) methodologies to validate system performance before physical prototypes ever touch the floor.

The position sits at the intersection of product development, quality assurance, and operations. You will partner with product engineers, manual QA teams, and internal customers—including Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Systems Integration—to ensure that every new solution meets stringent quality, reliability, and sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain virtual test environments: Build simulation frameworks that incorporate real software, control algorithms, and hardware models to replicate end‑to‑end solutions at scale.
  • Execute HIL and software‑in‑the‑loop (SIL) tests: Validate hardware control loops, sensor feedback, and communication protocols using actual automation software within a virtual environment.
  • Define quality standards and acceptance criteria: Establish measurable parameters for functionality, reliability, maintainability, training, deployment, and serviceability across hardware, software, and packaging materials.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams: Work closely with product designers, firmware engineers, packaging scientists, and operations stakeholders to align virtual test plans with real‑world requirements.
  • Coordinate simulation campaigns: Schedule, prioritize, and track simulation runs, ensuring timely delivery of test results to product roadmaps.
  • Analyze defects and root causes: Identify recurring bugs, performance bottlenecks, and integration issues; recommend corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Support manual QA efforts: Provide virtual test artifacts, data sets, and automated scripts that accelerate physical testing cycles and reduce time‑to‑market.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance: Ensure all virtual testing activities adhere to federal, state, and internal policies governing safety, data integrity, and environmental impact.
  • Drive continuous improvement: Introduce new simulation tools, automation frameworks, and best practices that enhance test coverage and efficiency.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in large‑scale cross‑functional engineering environments, with a focus on modeling, simulation, testing, integration, or quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fulfillment‑system technologies such as automated storage and retrieval, material handling equipment, high‑speed sortation, and robotic packaging.
  • Proven ability to design and execute complex simulation scenarios that incorporate real software stacks and hardware models.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a track record of solving ambiguous, multi‑disciplinary problems.
  • Exceptional time‑management skills and a history of meeting aggressive project deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel up to 70 % of the time to fulfillment sites, partner facilities, and project locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands‑on experience with hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) platforms, test automation engines, and real‑time control software.
  • Background in sustainable packaging technologies, including recyclable materials, biodegradable polymers, and life‑cycle analysis.
  • Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, or high‑speed manufacturing equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical findings into clear recommendations for diverse audiences.
  • Project management experience, including the ability to initiate, plan, and close complex engineering initiatives.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, ROS, Gazebo), programming languages (Python, C++, Java), and version‑control systems (Git).
  • Systems Thinking: Ability to view hardware, software, and packaging as an integrated ecosystem and anticipate interactions across subsystems.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working with product engineers, operations leaders, and external partners to align goals and deliver results.
  • Detail Orientation: Meticulous documentation of test procedures, results, and defect logs to support auditability and knowledge transfer.
  • Innovation Mindset: Eagerness to explore emerging technologies—digital twins, AI‑driven test optimization, and cloud‑based simulation services.
  • Customer Focus: Commitment to understanding internal customer needs (operations, maintenance, process engineering) and delivering solutions that exceed expectations.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

At arenaflex, your career trajectory is shaped by the impact you create. As a senior QA engineer, you will have direct exposure to the full product lifecycle—from concept through deployment—allowing you to develop deep expertise in both hardware and software domains. Opportunities include:

  • Leading a dedicated virtual testing team and influencing the strategic direction of MSP product quality.
  • Participating in cross‑functional innovation labs focused on AI‑enhanced digital twins and predictive maintenance.
  • Access to continuous learning resources, including certifications in robotics, systems engineering, and sustainable design.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and shaping best‑practice frameworks that become company‑wide standards.
  • Potential pathways to senior technical leadership roles such as Principal Systems Engineer or Director of Quality Assurance.
