Our portfolio spans autonomous mobile robots, high‑speed sortation machines, robotic packing cells, and next‑generation recyclable packaging materials. By partnering with a diverse ecosystem of operations, engineering, supply‑chain, and design teams, arenaflex delivers resilient, scalable solutions that power some of the world’s largest fulfillment networks.

Role Overview

We are seeking an outstanding Quality Assurance Engineer – Virtual & Simulation Testing to join the Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team at arenaflex. In this role, you will design, develop, and execute high‑fidelity virtual testing platforms that emulate real‑world hardware, software, and material interactions. Your simulations will enable rapid validation of complex robotic cells, autonomous vehicles, sortation equipment, and packaging innovations before they ever touch a physical prototype. By collaborating closely with product engineers, manual QA teams, and internal customers—including Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Service groups—you will ensure that every new solution meets the highest standards of quality, reliability, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Virtual Test Development & Execution

  • Design and implement end‑to‑end simulation environments that incorporate real automation software, hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) components, and material‑compatibility models.
  • Develop reusable test suites, automated test executors, and scripting frameworks to run thousands of design‑of‑experiment (DOE) scenarios across hardware, control, and packaging domains.
  • Validate system‑level requirements by stress‑testing virtual prototypes under extreme load, fault, and environmental conditions.
  • Synchronize virtual test plans with physical QA activities, ensuring seamless hand‑off between simulated and real‑world validation.

Quality Standards & Communication

  • Define measurable quality metrics, acceptance thresholds, and performance benchmarks for hardware, software, controls, and packaging materials.
  • Partner with product development teams to embed quality standards early in the design cycle, providing clear guidance on simulation‑driven verification.
  • Produce concise, data‑rich reports that translate simulation outcomes into actionable insights for engineers, project managers, and senior leadership.
  • Facilitate cross‑functional reviews with Operations, RME, ACES, Process Engineering, and WW Design to capture feedback and iterate on test scenarios.

Issue Identification & Resolution

  • Detect, triage, and document bugs, defects, and performance regressions uncovered during virtual testing.
  • Analyze recurring patterns across multiple product lines, recommending systemic improvements to design, tooling, or process.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and packaging teams to implement corrective actions and verify their effectiveness through targeted simulations.

Compliance & Governance

  • Maintain strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies governing safety, data integrity, and environmental impact.
  • Ensure that all simulation artifacts, test data, and documentation are stored in accordance with arenaflex’s governance framework.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience working with large, cross‑functional engineering teams on modelling, simulation, testing, integration, or quality‑assurance initiatives.
  • Hands‑on expertise with fulfillment‑system hardware such as storage equipment, material‑handling conveyors, automated sortation mechanisms, and related automation gear.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop high‑fidelity virtual environments that incorporate real‑world software stacks and control logic.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a track record of solving ambiguous, complex problems through data‑driven approaches.
  • Excellent time‑management skills and a history of meeting tight project deadlines in fast‑paced settings.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 70 % of the time to business locations, project sites, and customer facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with complex automated material‑handling equipment, high‑speed packaging technologies, and robotic integration projects.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, Gazebo, ROS, or equivalent platforms, and familiarity with HIL testing rigs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective coordination with engineering, operations, and senior management.
  • Project‑management experience, including the ability to initiate, plan, and close out multi‑disciplinary initiatives on schedule and within budget.
  • Knowledge of sustainable packaging materials, lifecycle analysis, and regulatory compliance for eco‑friendly product design.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Systems Thinking: Ability to view hardware, software, and material components as an integrated whole and anticipate interactions.
  • Simulation Development: Mastery of creating realistic virtual testbeds that mirror production environments.
  • Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in Python, C++, or similar languages for test automation and data processing.
  • Quality Assurance Methodologies: Experience with ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or similar frameworks for rigorous quality control.
  • Collaboration: Proven success partnering with diverse stakeholder groups, from product engineers to field operations.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to dissect complex failure modes, root‑cause analysis, and propose robust corrective actions.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in ambiguous environments where requirements evolve rapidly.
