About the Role: Hiring Location: Remote (Canada: BC, AB, or ON; preference for Greater Vancouver, BC) At Velora, we're on a mission to unify nonprofit operations so that the organizations doing the most important work in the world can spend less time wrestling with disconnected systems and more time moving their mission forward. We serve over 15,000 nonprofits globally, and our integrated platform — spanning fundraising, donor management, and fund accounting — is the connective tissue that keeps their data, their teams, and their impact in sync. To support the people building and maintaining that platform, we're looking for a Junior IT & Compliance Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll be the go-to person for day-to-day IT across a remote-first environment, helping Velora's team stay secure and productive. You'll also play a meaningful part in the compliance work — SOC 2, GDPR, PCI — that our nonprofit customers trust us to uphold. What will you be doing (your role)? Serve as primary contact for day-to-day IT requests with clear, friendly communication and timely follow-through. Install, configure, and support employee hardware, software, and accounts across macOS and Windows; provide hardware/software support and resolve issues remotely to keep teams productive. Work with remote employees, vendors, and contractors to fulfill IT requests and integrate external services. Procure and provision hardware, manage asset inventory, and run secure onboarding and offboarding for accounts, access, and devices. Assist with evidence collection and control testing for SOC 2, GDPR, and PCI-related obligations; keep audit artifacts organized and current. Share troubleshooting patterns, documentation standards, and audit-readiness habits with teammates. Maintain accurate, audit-ready records for all technical issues and access requests within the company's centralized ticketing system. Occasionally support off-hours maintenance windows and small projects that improve reliability or security. What we’re looking for (requirements): Passion for computer systems, and a strong desire to learn and grow in the field of IT. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with strong patience and empathy; ability to explain technical concepts simply. Proactive and organized in a remote environment with solid time management and follow-through. Adept with MacOS, and comfortable with remote work tools such as Slack, Notion, Zoom, and Google Workspace. Familiarity with basic SOC 2, GDPR, and PCI concepts, with motivation to deepen compliance knowledge. Interest in AI tooling and automation, desire to learn and grow Degree in IT, CS, or a related field, professional experience, and certifications like CompTIA A+ or Security+ are all beneficial. Further detail Core responsibilities Ticket handling, device provisioning, account management, access reviews, and software rollouts with change records. Maintain asset inventory, device encryption, and baseline hardening via MDM; ensure MFA and least-privilege access. Maintain compliance evidence: policy acknowledgments, onboarding/offboarding trails, access certifications, and training attestations. Operational excellence Keep ticket hygiene high with clear notes and resolutions; support off-hours maintenance when needed. Collaborate with vendors for warranty, repairs, and service escalations; evaluate options and recommend cost-effective solutions. Documentation and knowledge sharing Write concise KBs and guides that reduce repeat tickets; keep SOPs and checklists current after changes. Growth mindset Seek feedback, track personal improvements, and stay current with evolving IT and compliance standards. Why work with us? If you need more convincing, here’s the rest of it: 💵 Salary – The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $95,000 CAD. Your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and geographic location. 🏝️ Paid Time Off Canada: Everyone gets 4 weeks paid leave plus 11 days of public holidays, as well as an ‘end of year shutdown’ which is an extra 2 week company holiday.
