[Remote] Project DevOps Engineer

The Project DevOps Engineer will interface between software engineers and corporate DevOps tools, focusing on creating and optimizing DevOps processes across various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with software leads to meet OTECH CI/CD needs
  • Perform OTECH administrator role to handle users and configuration for tools hosted by corporate IT
  • Function as the OTECH representative for corporate IT and Software Center of Excellence DevOps initiatives
  • Design, build, and optimize efficient CI/CD pipelines such as automated unit testing, static code coverage, and production of metrics reports
  • Develop and manage system monitoring and alerting capabilities
  • Manage and monitor system access controls, authorization mechanisms and user account privileges
  • Function as a liaison between users and corporate IT to help troubleshoot and diagnose developer related issues
  • Monitor how government sensitive information is being stored and shared, including principles of least privilege and how programs are utilizing Corporate tools
  • Serve as a technical resource for software development teams by guiding and enabling the adoption of DevOps practices, tools and workflows to improve development velocity, reliability and overall software delivery performance
  • Schedules can be demanding throughout the year and occasional work outside normal working hours should be expected

Skills

  • BS Degree in a STEM related field. Commensurate experience will be considered
  • 5+ years of practical experience in DevOps
  • Process oriented with great documentation skills
  • Solid written and oral communications skills
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Experience with tools such as Github, Confluence, and/or Artifactory
  • Experience with Github Actions
  • Experience with Azure
  • Experience configuring and managing Jira workflows
  • Experience with Linux, Windows, and bare firmware environments
  • Experience integrating analysis and test tools, such as CodeQL, nUnit or MSTest within CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages
  • Experience working with software deployed in orchestrated container-based environments
  • Experience in the use of system automation tools and techniques
  • Experience with monitoring, reporting, and alerting tools
  • Experience building and managing Virtual Machines and containers
  • Experience managing SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server
  • Experience supporting waterfall and agile software lifecycles
  • Experience managing pipelines for embedded and/or cluster-hosted software applications
  • Experience managing pipelines for a spectrum of languages including C, C++, C#, MATLAB, and/or React
  • Experience ensuring sensitive software related data is stored and accessed in adherence to applicable government standards (such as CUI, PHI or PII)
  • Experience supporting multiple programmatic needs simultaneously and prioritizing own workload
  • Understanding of networking to help diagnose and troubleshoot issues
