[Remote] Business Development Associate
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. QuartzBio is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider focused on delivering a unified data foundation for the life sciences industry. The Business Development Associate is responsible for generating new business opportunities through targeted outreach, managing a limited territory of small biotech accounts, and supporting Business Development Managers and Directors in lead nurturing and the sales cycle.
Responsibilities
- Support BD Managers and Directors with lead nurturing, while developing and owning the sales cycle for a limited territory of small biotech accounts
- Outbound & pipeline generation (~60% of time)
- Execute high-quality outreach across email, phone, and LinkedIn to generate net-new opportunities
- Balance scaled campaigns with targeted, personalized outreach aligned to BD territory/account plans
- Partner with BDs and marketing to:
- Identify priority accounts, personas, and key stakeholders
- Develop tailored messaging for high-value prospects
- Own outreach performance metrics (open rates, reply rates, meetings booked, SQL conversion)
- Contact enrichment and CRM support (~20% of time)
- Review and qualify marketing leads in contact records
- Enrich contact data
- Enter new contacts and companies as they are discovered during outbound research
- Develop and manage a territory of small biotech accounts (~20% of time)
- Drive self-identified opportunities through the pipeline to close new business
- Own the sales process of discovery, demo, proposal and negotiation with support from leadership
- Deliver clear, confident, and structured value propositions tailored to specific personas
- Handle basic objections and position QuartzBio solutions effectively
- Event and campaign support
- Drive meeting generation and attendance for conferences, summits and webinars
- Partner with BDs to set pre-event meetings with target accounts
- Execute targeted follow-up campaigns post-event to convert interest into pipeline
- Attend events in-person as required
- Data-driven workflows and data hygiene
- Maintain complete, accurate, and centralized tracking of all activities within Hubspot
- Ensure full visibility into activity, performance, and pipeline contribution
- Regularly report on: Outreach activity , conversion rates and pipeline contribution
- Analyze performance data to optimize outreach strategies
- Track team performance metrics, report insights to leadership, and implement data-driven improvements
- Leverage AI-driven strategies to optimize workflows and time management
- Demonstrate ownership and initiative by operating as a self-starter, not a task executor
- Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and problem-solving in all aspects of the role
- Continuously improve sales and prospecting best practices, and stay up to date with emerging technologies
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, Business, Marketing, or related field
- 2 to 3 years of sales hunting experience selling SaaS solutions to pharma and biotech industries
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work
- Ability to articulate ideas and write clear and concise reports
- Demonstrated experience with consultative sales approach, developing and qualifying prospect lists and making presentations to prospective clients to explain the business' products and services and their alignment with client needs
- Experience in SaaS-based products and well-versed in CRM systems, has strong experience in virtual communication platforms, and demonstrates a polished and professional presence
- Execute time-sensitive matters while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Team player willing to collaborate and share knowledge
- Ability to work independently, manage time and create plans to achieve personal goals
- Ability to think creatively and strategically and act tactically in a dynamic environment
- Must be self-directed and self-motivated to work at a highly technical level
- Willing to travel up to 10%
- Must possess a valid driver's license allowing you to drive in the state(s) you drive in
- Able to travel both domestically and internationally including overnight stays
