[Remote] Manager Accounting

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Mercury Insurance is a leading insurance provider dedicated to helping people reduce risk and overcome unexpected events. They are seeking a Manager of Accounting to oversee the general ledger and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, while managing a team of accountants and collaborating with external auditors.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of accountants and financial professionals. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information to the Director of accounting and outside entities
• Accountable for overall effectiveness and compliance with established accounting practices and procedures. Oversees timely completion of third-party statement reconciliations and prompt resolution of all items
• Works in conjunction with state examiners and outside auditors to coordinate audits, prepare work papers, and gather pertinent financial information for annual audit reports
• Analyzes operating results relative to established guidelines and takes appropriate action to improve performance, productivity, and effectiveness
• Works with leadership to complete projects and requests from other business units
• Leadership responsibilities include training and developing direct reports, providing coaching and documenting performance
• Other functions may be assigned

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5 years accounting experience
• 2 years of experience in the insurance industry
• 2 years supervisory experience
• Strong accounting principles and practices
• Proficiency in using accounting software and Excel
• Familiarity with Statutory and US GAAP
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
• CPA certification
