Position Overview
Are you a dynamic, detail-oriented, and driven accounting and data professional ready to elevate your career? arenaflex is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Revenue Accounting and Data Analytics Specialist to join our growing Accounting team. This full-time remote role offers a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise in US GAAP, revenue systems, and core data capabilities while collaborating with all levels of management and cross-functional teams across the organization.
In this position, you will serve as the go-to expert bridging the worlds of accounting and data engineering, taking ownership of complex analyses, reconciliation processes, and the design of accounting data requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Technical Accounting, Functional Accounting, Engineering, Product, Finance, Tax, Legal, and various business owners to shape policies, processes, and programs, while helping drive key system initiatives and continuous improvements.
- Accounting Data Requirements: Design and develop comprehensive accounting data requirements to facilitate seamless automation of journal entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, compliance, and efficiency across all financial processes.
- Operational Improvement: Lead operational improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining revenue tasks and shortening the monthly revenue close calendar.
- Data Quality Assurance: Monitor data integrity of journal entries generated through the Revenue Subledger, and design Data Quality checks for identified use cases—including accounting requirements design, ad hoc analyses, and new product launches.
- Product & Engineering Partnership: Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to continuously improve the daily Revenue Reconciliation process and manage reconciliation analysis with the support of the analytics team.
- Compliance Review: Review new product designs presented during internal Financial Compliance meetings, assessing their impact on existing accounting requirements and identifying the need for new requirements within the Revenue Subledger.
- Journal Entry Automation: Cross-collaborate with partner teams on the journal entry flows for new and existing products to enable automation via the Revenue Subledger.
- Monthly Close Activities: Perform monthly revenue accounting close responsibilities, including GAAP revenue analysis, cost of revenue analysis, accounts receivable reconciliations, journal entry reviews, and close package preparation.
- Special Projects: Conduct ad hoc analyses and special projects as assigned by leadership.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in revenue accounting, data analytics, and/or business intelligence.
- US GAAP Expertise: Strong knowledge of US GAAP, with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition required. Familiarity with IFRS is a strong plus.
- SQL Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced SQL skills with the ability to work with large volumes of transactional data.
- Python Skills: Working knowledge of Python is highly preferred.
- Analytical Acumen: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing environments and shifting priorities.
- Communication Skills: Ability to engage effectively with all levels of management and cross-functional teams, both in-person and remotely.
Preferred Qualifications & Nice-to-Haves
- Experience working with revenue subledgers or automated journal entry systems.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms.
- Prior experience in a technology, SaaS, or e-commerce environment.
- Exposure to SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
- Experience supporting product launches from a financial reporting perspective.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for process optimization.
