About the Role

Our client, a pioneering company in materials science, is actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Process Chemist for a fully remote, 'Yes' position. This role is crucial for driving innovation in chemical process development and optimization for novel material synthesis. You will leverage your deep understanding of organic and inorganic chemistry, reaction kinetics, and analytical techniques to develop robust, scalable, and cost-effective manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities

Design and execute laboratory experiments to develop and optimize chemical synthesis routes for new materials. Perform detailed analysis of reaction pathways, kinetics, and thermodynamics. Develop and implement analytical methods for process monitoring and product characterization using techniques such as HPLC, GC, NMR, and MS. Troubleshoot complex chemical process issues and identify root causes for deviations. Scale up chemical processes from lab bench to pilot and potentially commercial scale, collaborating with engineering teams. Author comprehensive technical reports, research summaries, and development documentation. Ensure all laboratory activities comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in synthetic chemistry and process development. Mentor junior chemists and contribute to a culture of scientific excellence.

Requirements

Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemistry, with a strong focus on Organic or Inorganic synthesis and process chemistry. Minimum of 7 years of experience in process chemistry, R&D, or chemical development, preferably in a specialized field like materials science or fine chemicals. Proven track record of successfully developing and scaling complex chemical syntheses. Expertise in modern synthetic techniques and reaction optimization strategies. Advanced proficiency with a range of analytical instrumentation (NMR, GC-MS, HPLC, FTIR). Strong understanding of process safety principles and risk assessment. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and data interpretation skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote setting.
