The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking an Administrative Assistant 2 to join their Public Health Laboratory team. The role involves coordinating administrative activities, supporting laboratory staff with various functions, and overseeing data entry related to laboratory testing.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate a variety of administrative activities to maintain efficient workflow and operational continuity
  • Support the entire laboratory staff with a wide range of administrative functions to facilitate efficient operations
  • Oversee and perform data entry related to laboratory testing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to established procedures

Skills

  • Six months of entry-level technical experience in one or more administrative functional areas such as human resources, accounting, administration, and procurement
  • One year of advanced-level clerical experience
  • One year of post-secondary education from an accredited college (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours equals 1 year)
  • One year of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience
  • Three (3) professional references, whom we may contact by phone, are required. One (1) of these references must be your current or most recent supervisor, if not already provided in the application
  • Current performance evaluation, if available
  • A copy of academic transcripts (unofficial is okay; please ensure that the institution name/URL is listed on the transcripts) is used to verify that you meet the minimum qualifications
  • Financial Management: Understands the organization's financial processes. Prepares, justifies, and administers the program budget. Oversees procurement and contracting to achieve desired results. Monitors expenditures and uses cost-benefit thinking to set priorities
  • Supervision: Plans, distributes, and monitors work assignments; sets task priorities; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed, and that they are treated in a fair and equitable manner
  • Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work
  • Interpersonal Skills: Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others
