We are excited to offer a Remote Media Operations & Customer Support Specialist position at arenaflex, paying $30 per hour. This is a unique and multifaceted role that blends the worlds of customer service excellence with the dynamic, fast-paced environment of broadcast media operations. If you thrive under pressure, enjoy solving complex problems, and want to be part of a globally recognized entertainment brand — this opportunity is tailor-made for you.

About arenaflex and the Industry

arenaflex stands at the intersection of entertainment, news, sports, and streaming technology. Our platforms reach hundreds of millions of viewers and subscribers worldwide, delivering live sports events, breaking news coverage, blockbuster entertainment, and beloved streaming content across dozens of countries and languages. Behind every live event, every premiere, and every fan interaction is a sophisticated global content supply chain and an equally sophisticated customer support operation.

As a Remote Media Operations & Customer Support Specialist at arenaflex, you become a vital link in this ecosystem. You won't just be answering questions — you'll be supporting the infrastructure that powers live broadcasts, ensuring content quality meets the highest standards, and contributing to the seamless delivery of entertainment to audiences everywhere.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will take on a diverse and dynamic set of responsibilities that span both media operations and customer-facing support functions. Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Media Content Management: Organize, categorize, and distribute server-based content used for recording and playback across all arenaflex broadcast platforms. You'll be responsible for the proper handling of live and pre-recorded media assets.
  • Live Production Support: Validate incoming video and audio feeds during live programming, set up standards for incoming broadcasts, and clip and edit content for production and programming teams. Ensure all content meets arenaflex's exacting quality standards.
  • Broadcast Equipment Operation: Demonstrate proficient use of all broadcast equipment and technology assigned to your functional area, including standard and high-definition operations, content management systems, linear and non-linear editing platforms, encoding systems, server-based recording and playback devices, EVS (Extra Video Server) systems, and more.
  • Media File Processing: Handle the recording, editing, playback, transcoding, indexing, and archiving of a wide variety of media formats and server-based materials, ensuring all content consistently meets ESPN and arenaflex broadcast quality benchmarks.
  • Quality Control & Monitoring: Monitor audio and video signals throughout live and recorded operations, applying extensive knowledge of broadcast standards and best practices to maintain output quality at all times.
  • Customer Support Engagement: Serve as a key point of contact for arenaflex customers and fans, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing timely, empathetic, and knowledgeable support for our streaming platforms and content services.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production control room personnel, remote production teams, technology and engineering teams, and external vendors to ensure smooth content workflows from acquisition to distribution.
  • Issue Documentation & Resolution: Investigate, troubleshoot, and thoroughly document any critical incidents or technical issues that arise during operations, contributing to continuous improvement of our systems and processes.
  • Training & Knowledge Sharing: Participate actively in training programs — including in-person, classroom, and virtual formats — for your own professional development as well as to stay current with evolving equipment and workflow changes. You may also be called upon to train others in your functional area and develop training documentation.
  • Subtitle & Closed Captioning Support: Understand closed captioning systems and related workflows, ensuring that all content delivered to audiences meets accessibility standards and requirements.
  • Technology Collaboration: Partner with technology and engineering teams to provide feedback and contribute ideas for improving existing broadcast applications and operational tools.
  • Critical Thinking & Independent Judgment: Apply sound judgment and critical thinking to daily operational decisions, demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Workflow Optimization: Gain and apply advanced skills across multiple functional areas to best support the coordination and integration of operations across a global content supply chain.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A college degree in Broadcast Journalism, Media Production, Communications, or a related field is a plus.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 2 years of hands-on television production experience at a large-market television station or network-level operation is required. Equivalent experience in digital media operations may also be considered.
  • Flexibility & Availability: Ability and willingness to work late shifts, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility to adapt to shifting schedules and the ability to stay engaged beyond standard working hours to accommodate live events, special projects, and departmental objectives.
  • Performance Under Pressure: Demonstrated ability to perform tasks under tight deadlines, work independently, and manage multiple simultaneous projects and priorities without sacrificing quality.
  • Team Collaboration: Proven ability to function effectively as part of a team dynamic, contributing to a positive and productive work environment while also stepping up as a leader when the situation demands it.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. You must be able to understand complex technical information and convey it clearly and concisely to colleagues, production teams, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Organizational Excellence: Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and efficiency in planning and execution are expected. The ability to manage multiple content workflows simultaneously is critical.
  • Adaptability: Willingness and demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to a constantly changing environment. The broadcast and media technology landscape evolves rapidly, and we need team members who embrace change and continuous learning.
  • Computer Proficiency: Solid foundational computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and other standard productivity software. Familiarity with broadcast-specific software platforms is a significant advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience working in a live production environment, through internships, part-time roles, or similar educational experiences. Candidates who have stepped into a live broadcast control room or production floor bring a valuable perspective.
  • Practical knowledge of server-based recording and playback systems and hands-on familiarity with non-linear editing platforms such as Quantel, Avid, or similar industry-standard systems.
  • Technical understanding of format conversions, EVS (Extra Video Server) operations, transcoding systems, and various media file formats used in professional broadcast environments (e.g., ProRes, DNxHD, H.264, MXF).
  • Experience working within a global or international media organization, particularly in roles spanning content operations across multiple regions or languages.
  • Familiarity with closed captioning and subtitling workflows, including knowledge of industry standards such as CEA-608/708 or equivalent international subtitle formats.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing support role, particularly within media, entertainment, or technology sectors, demonstrating the ability to translate technical concepts into customer-friendly language.
  • Knowledge of streaming media delivery, including familiarity with CDN (Content Delivery Network) concepts, adaptive bitrate streaming, and the platforms that power modern streaming experiences.

Skills and Competencies Required for Success

Beyond formal qualifications, the ideal candidate for this role at arenaflex will bring a specific set of interpersonal and cognitive skills that enable success in this demanding and rewarding position:

  • Technical Aptitude: A natural comfort with broadcast and media technology, and the curiosity and determination to master complex systems and tools quickly.
  • Analytical Thinking: The ability to break down complex technical workflows, understand how individual components fit into the larger system, and identify points of failure or improvement.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Particularly important for the customer-facing aspects of the role — the ability to remain calm, empathetic, and solutions-oriented when interacting with viewers and subscribers, even during high-stress situations.
  • Precision & Attention to Detail: In broadcast operations, small errors can have outsized consequences. A meticulous approach to quality control and process adherence is non-negotiable.
  • Time Management: The ability to prioritize competing demands, manage your own workflow effectively, and deliver consistent results even when the pace is frenetic.
  • Continuous Learning Mindset: Broadcast technology evolves constantly. The best team members at arenaflex are those who view learning as an ongoing professional habit rather than a one-time event.
