Grant Coordinator (Indigenous applicants preferred) Job term: Term, Full Time Hours: 35 hours per week Location: Canada, remote (must reside within Canada to be eligible for consideration) Reports to: Manager of Granting Who We Are Indigenous Youth Roots is a national, Indigenous youth-led organization rooted in community. Your Impact The Grant Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Creation Community Grants Program, including providing grantee resources, capacity building support, and program administration as outlined within both the Project and Program Charters. Summary of Duties & Responsibilities Grantee Support: Act as the first point of contact and liaison between IYR and grantees. Guide potential applicants and existing grantees in navigating through funding processes. Communicate and support grantees through regular check-ins, providing guidance on challenges, resource sharing, capacity development, and other forms of project supports. Mentor grantees to implement, administer, evaluate, and report on their programs. Collaborate with other team members to continue developing and improving our approach and supports for grantees and applicants. Facilitate capacity-building workshops and training sessions for youth, partners, and community members, including occasional evening programming. Administration: Coordinate the full life cycle of grant applications (intake, operation, and reporting) for assigned funding streams. Support the preparation and dissemination of letters, reports, education, and communications materials. Screen applicants and support the grant review committee meetings as needed. Maintain up to date records of grantee status and ongoing engagements. Outreach and Design: Coordinate national outreach efforts to raise awareness of the Creation Community Granting Program. Support the design of the granting streams, evaluation metrics, and application processes and procedures. Research best practices in community granting and working with grassroots and youth-led projects and programs. Assist with event logistics, participant communications, and on-site coordination for regional gatherings and related activities. Reporting and Evaluation: Assist in coordination and data collection for relevant reports to funding agencies, partners, and internal evaluation streams. Support analyzing qualitative and quantitative data and drafting reports from this information. Accountable for timely and accurate collection, formation, and submission of all relevant program and project data, reports, and evaluations. Community Engagement: Uphold and promote the organization’s cultural values and guiding principles in all workplace practices. Engage with the Indigenous community and support initiatives that strengthen relationships and collaboration. Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of regional gatherings, meetings, and community engagement events. Health, Safety, and Wellness: Carry out your duties in a manner that does not adversely affect your own health and safety or that of others by reporting all potential hazards, all incidents, and injuries. Co-operate, support, and engage with any measures introduced in the workplace to improve occupational health & safety. Other: Maintain high ethical standards and demonstrate integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness in all endeavours and communications. Support and participate in all IYR staff, department, and team meetings. Participate in external and internal committees, working groups, or projects as required. Be available for in-person engagements when required and provided reasonable notice. Undertake other duties as assigned. Qualifications 1 or more years’ experience in granting or project funding. 1 or more years’ experience in administration. Facilitation and public speaking experience is an asset. Experience working with Indigenous youth communities an asset Strong administrative experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Proven written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly. Excellent organizational and time management skills with high attention to detail. Skills & Competencies Communication: Skilled at conveying ideas with empathy, transparency, and adaptability across diverse audiences, including youth, staff, and community partners. Collaboration and Partnership-Building: Works effectively across departments and with external stakeholders to achieve shared goals. Organizational Skills: Balances multiple priorities, manages workflows, and delivers results on time. Risk Management: Able to identify, mitigate, or eliminate potential risks related to grant stewardship and funding relationships. Cultural Integrity and Relational Accountability: Grounds work in Indigenous and relational worldviews, ensuring administrative processes reflect care, respect, and responsibility to community. Coordination and Implementation: Demonstrates strong organizational and administrative skills to ensure systems, processes, and deliverables are consistent, transparent, and reliable.

Compensation

Salary: $53,475 to $62,558 annually Health benefits: will begin following a 3-month probationary period Other: GRRSP employer contribution that is 5% of salary Vacation: 15 days and statutory holidays, in addition to a 2-week winter closure Personal Days: 15 days Annual Professional Development Benefit: $1500 annually following a 3-month probationary period Cultural Days: 5 days annually Volunteer Hours: 5 hours monthly at any organization of your choice. Flexible Work Week Options: 4 and 5 Day work week options.
