Know more: wri-india.org Program Overview WRI India Programs work with governments, businesses, civil society, and on-ground organisations to develop strategies and digital tools that build community resilience, and bridge capacity gaps. WRI India's technology work is part of a broader commitment to open-source, interoperable Products — building tools that are publicly accessible, standards-compliant, and scalable to national and subnational use Job Highlight WRI India is looking for a junior UX Designer to join its growing digital Product and Data teams. You will work across programs — including Food, Land, Water and Mobility — to design user-centred digital products, research tools, and data dashboards that communicate complex environmental, and urban concepts in an easy to understand manner. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role suited to someone early in their career who is curious, collaborative, and eager to apply design thinking to issues that matter.

What You Will Do

I. Digital product and interface design (35%) Design wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for web and mobile interfaces used by government, civil society, and public users. Translate program requirements and research findings into clear, accessible, and visually compelling digital experiences. Maintain and evolve WRI India's design system, ensuring visual consistency across products and publications. Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate and high-quality implementation of designs. II. Data visualisation and dashboard design (30%) Design interactive and static data visualisations to communicate findings from datasets (on diverse topics such as Food, Land, Water, Mobility, Energy etc.). Work with program teams to identify the right visual formats — charts, maps, infographics — for different audiences and platforms. Ensure all data visuals are accurate, accessible, and aligned with WRI India's editorial and brand standards. Support the design of reports, briefs, and presentations with data-driven visual storytelling. III. UX research and strategy (20%) Conduct user research activities including interviews, surveys, usability tests, and journey mapping to inform design decisions. Synthesise research insights and present recommendations to program teams and stakeholders. Contribute to the development of design guidelines, accessibility standards, and UX documentation. Track emerging UX trends, tools, and methodologies relevant to sustainability and civic-facing digital products. IV. Stakeholder engagement and collaboration (15%) Work closely with program managers, researchers, and communications staff across WRI India to gather requirements and deliver design outputs. Participate in workshops, design reviews, and feedback sessions with internal and external partners. Support the development of pitch decks, stakeholder presentations, and workshop materials from a design perspective. What You Will Need Qualifications and experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in UX/UI design, interaction design, communication design, human-computer interaction, or a related discipline. 2–4 years of relevant work experience in UX or product design, including internships and academic projects. A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design work across research, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design. Experience designing data visualisations, dashboards, or information graphics is an advantage. Exposure to or interest in sustainability, public policy, climate, or development sectors is desirable. Skills and competencies Proficiency in Figma, with working knowledge of prototyping and component-based design. Familiarity with UX research methods — usability testing, interviews, heuristic evaluation. Basic understanding of HTML/CSS or front-end principles is a plus, not a requirement. Strong visual communication skills, with attention to typography, hierarchy, and accessibility. Ability to manage multiple tasks, communicate proactively, and work effectively in interdisciplinary teams. Comfortable working with ambiguity and translating open-ended briefs into structured design solutions. Potential Salary and Benefits: INR 9,50,000 to 12,00,000 per annum Salary shall be commensurate with experience, skills and internal parity. WRI India offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package. Duration: 1 year Location: Mumbai/New Delhi/ Bangalore/Remote Start date: As soon as possible.
