With operations spanning continents, arenaflex operates some of the most sophisticated, large-scale data center environments in the world, powering millions of customers and supporting the digital backbone of modern life.

We are searching for an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Senior Data Center Engineering Operations Manager to lead critical infrastructure operations across multiple facilities in the Florida region. This role is a hybrid of remote strategic oversight and on-site technical leadership, designed for a proven engineering leader who thrives in dynamic, high-stakes environments and is passionate about operational excellence, team development, and continuous improvement.

If you are an accomplished engineering manager with deep technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, a passion for building high-performing teams, and a vision to take data center operations to the next level, this is your opportunity to make a transformative impact with arenaflex.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Center Engineering Operations Manager at arenaflex, you will hold end-to-end accountability for the operational integrity, safety, and performance of multiple data center sites. Your responsibilities will span strategic leadership, technical oversight, people management, budget ownership, vendor management, and incident response.

  • Safety and Compliance Champion: Serve as the primary ambassador for safety within your team and across the region. Promote and enforce a culture of safe work practices, ensuring full compliance with arenaflex safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Team Leadership and People Management: Directly manage a team of Data Center Engineering Operations Engineers, including multiple supervisors. Oversee all aspects of people management, including hiring, performance evaluations, career development, rotation planning, and technical mentorship at every level.
  • Daily Operations Management: Ensure the efficient, effective, and reliable day-to-day operation of data center engineering activities, including electrical, mechanical, and control systems. Develop, refine, and optimize operational workflows while identifying and mitigating risks proactively.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the informed authority on the data centers' mechanical, electrical, and control systems, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air-handling units, and CRAC units.
  • KPI and Metrics Ownership: Ensure all operational KPIs and metrics are defined, measured, tracked, and consistently met. Use data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement and elevate service quality.
  • Automation and Innovation: Play a critical role in shaping and driving automation initiatives across the data center portfolio, identifying opportunities to reduce manual intervention, improve reliability, and accelerate response times.
  • Customer Experience Focus: Maintain unwavering passion for the quality and quantity of services delivered. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the experience of internal and external customers.
  • Incident and Outage Management: Manage large-scale events and outages, including oversight of on-call rotations and escalations. Serve as the regional point of contact during critical incidents, coordinating rapid response and resolution.
  • Vendor and Colocation Management: Perform vendor management for colocation facilities, ensuring adherence to contractual SLAs, performance benchmarks, and quality standards.
  • Physical Infrastructure Oversight: Manage every aspect of the data center's critical physical infrastructure. Ensure all work performed within the space meets the highest quality standards and does not impact internal or external customers.
  • Cross-Functional Project Leadership: Participate in and often lead in-progress projects, coordinating with a variety of support groups from conception to completion. Drive alignment, remove blockers, and ensure successful delivery.
  • Third-Party Coordination: Coordinate daily with a large number of third-party vendors, ensuring strict adherence to contracted SLAs and timely resolution of issues.
  • Budget and Financial Management: Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget, including forecasting, tracking, and controlling expenditures to ensure financial discipline and cost optimization.
  • On-Call Leadership: Regularly serve as the nighttime on-call Data Center Manager for the region. Respond to issues as they arise, lead investigations, coordinate mitigations, and oversee full recovery operations.
  • Environmental and Outage Support: Provide support for weather-related events, planned outages, and unplanned outages, ensuring operational resilience under all conditions.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Research and author technical documents that drive change, capture lessons learned, and elevate operational practices across the broader organization.

Essential Qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record of people management and high-performing team development.
  • Strong root-cause problem-solving skills, with the ability to step back and understand broader context before diving into solutions.
  • Robust troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities, with proven success resolving complex technical issues under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain SLAs through proactive issue detection, accurate reporting, and disciplined follow-through.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with a commitment to following exact maintenance procedures, maintaining accurate system documentation, and producing high-quality issue tracking entries.
  • Excellent judgment and instincts in high-pressure decision-making scenarios.
  • Strong prioritization skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex, and rapidly evolving environment.
  • A proactive, self-directed approach to continuously expanding knowledge of arenaflex's business, technology stack, and industry trends.
