Description Position Summary: The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant is an individual who assists in providing speech language support services to clinical programs under the supervision of a licensed speech language pathologist (SLP) Essential Functions: Responsible for providing assistance to the supervising speech and language pathologist in all aspects of speech and language interventions for clients with disabilities except feeding and swallowing therapy plans, goals or treatment Provide services for clients with disabilities, including screening, observations, instruction and data collection in a home setting Implement goals provided by the supervising SLP to provide speech and language intervention to patients Assist with the implementation of communication programming including oral, written, manual, augmentative, and alternative communication techniques and assistive technology Maintains appropriate client progress records, accurate and timely documentation of service with regard to established intervention plans and reports information to the supervising Speech and Language Pathologist weekly Communicate with the SLP to discuss patient’s progress and treatments Assure that all documentation is co-signed by the SLP. Responsible for meeting with supervising SLP on a weekly basis for 2 hours to complete direct and indirect supervision requirement as stated within the provisions of the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).

Requirements

Education and Qualifications Required: Currently hold a Speech Language Pathology Assistant license in the State of Texas Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication, Speech and Language Pathology or Communication Disorders Speech Sciences or successfully completed a Speech Language Pathology Assistant program from an institution whose program meets or exceeds recommended guidelines established by State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and ASHA.
