As a Part-Time Customer Service Agent in our Phoenix Ground Operations team, you'll be more than just a ticket counter representative – you'll be a hospitality ambassador, a problem solver, and a key member of a dynamic team that keeps the airport running smoothly. Hourly Pay: $18.50 per hour, with the opportunity for future increases per applicable collective bargaining agreement wage scale. We regularly review compensation to ensure fair and competitive pay for all our employees.

Job Summary

The People of arenaflex come together to deliver on our Purpose: connecting People to what's important in their lives through friendly, reliable, and low-cost air travel. Our Customer Service Agents extend Hospitality to arenaflex's Customers at the ticket counter, baggage service office, and gate area. As a Customer Service Agent, you will be often the first arenaflex Employee our Customers interact with during their travel experience, and you will set a hospitable tone for our Customers' entire trip. You'll be friendly, patient, and a problem solver who enjoys multitasking and working in a dynamic, safe environment.

This is a union-based role that includes working assigned shifts based on seniority. You must be flexible to work various shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. The nature of airline operations requires adaptability and a commitment to providing consistent, high-quality service regardless of the time or conditions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Customer Service Agent at arenaflex, you will play a multifaceted role that requires outstanding interpersonal skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to handle various tasks simultaneously. Your responsibilities include:

  • Customer Interaction: Provides friendly service to and maintains positive relationships with all internal and external Customers. You will greet customers warmly, address their needs promptly, and ensure every interaction leaves a positive impression of arenaflex.
  • Ticketing & Check-In: Handles any aspect of ticketing and check-in by operating a computerized point-of-sale system. You'll process boarding passes, verify travel documents, assign seats, and ensure customers are properly checked in for their flights.
  • Baggage Services: Checks in baggage and handles baggage service office operations. You will weigh and tag luggage, handle oversized items, and ensure proper handling of cargo shipments.
  • Financial Transactions: Handles cash, checks, credit cards, travel vouchers, and coupons as forms of payment for tickets. Computes charges, makes change, and balances daily transactions with precision and accountability. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate cash drawer balances.
  • Reservations & Information: Manages reservations, provides current and accurate fare and schedule information, and answers all general inquiries from Customers and visitors. You'll be the go-to person for flight information, booking modifications, and travel advice.
  • Problem Resolution: Resolves complaints, handles mishandled Customers due to oversells, delayed or cancelled flights, and addresses lost, delayed, or damaged luggage. You will resolve such problems quickly and within guidelines established by the Company, ensuring customer satisfaction even in challenging situations.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Greets and handles Customers in a polite and friendly manner, maintaining composure under stressful situations. You will be patient, empathetic, and committed to finding solutions.
  • Communication: Answers telephone inquiries, pages customers, and provides information to callers. You will effectively communicate verbally by telephone, face-to-face, and on public address systems.
  • Documentation: Completes forms, reports, and writes irregularity and complaint reports as required by the Company. You will maintain accurate records of all customer interactions and incidents.
  • Operational Support: Handles transactions required to board the aircraft in a timely and efficient manner. You will work under tight time constraints to accomplish quick turns of aircraft.
  • Collaboration: Works in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of arenaflex. You will collaborate with team members across departments to maintain smooth airport operations.
  • Additional Duties: May perform other job duties as directed by Leadership. The dynamic nature of airport operations requires flexibility and a willingness to step in where needed.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Residency: Must be a resident of Arizona at the time of applying to be considered for this position.
  • Authorization: U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. is required. No current or future work authorization sponsorship is available.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Clean Record: If you have interviewed (phone, virtually, or in person) for a Phoenix Customer Service Agent position in the past 12 months and were NOT selected, you will not be eligible to interview again until 12 months from that interview date.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to type and/or use a computer keyboard with sufficient speed to meet the demands of the job. You must be comfortable operating computerized systems and learning new software.
  • Communication Skills: Must possess good written and oral communication skills. You must be able to effectively communicate verbally by telephone, face-to-face, and on public address systems.
  • Physical Abilities: Must be able to lift and/or move items up to 70 pounds on a regular basis and repetitively lift and/or move weights of 40 to 50 pounds onto raised surfaces. Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, and stand on a frequent basis and for extended periods.
  • Appearance Standards: Must present a well-groomed appearance in accordance with the Ground Operations Employee Handbook and Labor Agreement. Must maintain the ability to wear prescribed uniforms.
  • Training Requirement: Must be able to satisfactorily complete Customer Service Agent training program with an 80% or greater average and successfully complete an evaluation period.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain a SIDA badge and meet all local airport requirements. This includes passing a background check and meeting all TSA and airport authority regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will help you stand out:

  • Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or retail environments
  • Foreign language skills are desirable but not required. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
  • Experience in fast-paced, dynamic work environments requiring multitasking
  • Previous experience handling cash and financial transactions
  • Knowledge of airline industry procedures and regulations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure

This role requires specific physical capabilities to ensure you can perform all job functions effectively:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Ability to work shift work and/or overtime as required by operational needs
  • May be required by Station Leadership to obtain a Customs Seal and meet all requirements to work international flights
