Junior Graphic Designer - Part Time
Buro Happold is a company focused on designing impactful deliverables for iconic buildings and urban environments. The Junior Graphic Designer (Part-Time) role involves collaborating with various disciplines to create compelling visuals for client-facing projects, while supporting the Senior Graphic Designer in the creative direction and development of graphics.
Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Graphic Designer on designing client-facing deliverables (e.g. technical reports, published documents, presentations, competition entries, proposals)
- Develop 2D/3D technical illustrations, renderings, diagrams, data visualizations, infographics, icons, branded presentations, document templates, and beyond
- Guide the creative direction of deliverables and provide storyboarding services to technical teams
- Identify opportunities for visualization in text-heavy documents and propose improvements to narrative communication
- Creatively apply Buro Happold’s brand guidelines to deliverables
- Apply clients’ brand guidelines or develop a bespoke visual identity if assignment requires
- Carefully consider the audience for each deliverable and challenge content that may not be relevant to that audience
- Offer support in developing company-wide resources that empower engineers/consultants to create their own graphics (e.g. image libraries) as well as support on both projects and business development efforts as needed
Skills
- 1+ years of relevant professional experience
- Bachelor's degree in a field emphasizing visual communication - such as graphic design, information design, architecture, industrial design—or commensurate work experience
- Proficient knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Demonstrated mastery of design principles such as typography, color, and composition
- Ability to work with a range of teams and communication styles using organizational and problem-solving skills
- Careful listener – can identify a narrative in rough sketches/drafts from engineers and propose the best way to communicate that story
- Knowledge of the architectural industry/built environment would be valuable
- Knowledge of CAD Software (e.g. Rhino, 3ds Max, AutoCAD, Revit) would be preferable
- Data Visualization Skills (using Tableau, Excel, or other methods)
- Knowledge and/or a willingness to learn AI softwares would be valuable
