Junior UX Designer
CGI is a leading IT and business consulting services firm, and they are seeking a Junior UX Designer to support the modernization of mission-critical systems for a federal agency. In this role, you will collaborate with Agile teams to design user-centered digital experiences and contribute to various aspects of the design process.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing user interfaces and workflows for web applications, ensuring usability and accessibility (Section 508 compliance)
- Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams (developers, product owners, stakeholders) to translate requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs
- Conduct user research, gather feedback, and participate in usability testing to inform design decisions
- Support the creation and maintenance of design systems, style guides, and documentation
- Apply human-centered design (HCD) and best practices to deliver user-friendly solutions
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to backlog refinement
- Iterate on designs based on feedback and evolving requirements
- Stay current with UX trends, tools, and accessibility standards
- Engage in continuous learning, training, and mentorship
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 0–2 years of experience in UX/UI design (internships, academic projects, or professional roles)
- Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar)
- Understanding of user-centered design principles and usability best practices
- Exposure to wireframing, prototyping, and user research methods
- Experience collaborating in Agile or cross-functional teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Eligibility for federal background investigation and compliance with security requirements (U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency with 3+ years residency)
- Experience designing for web applications in regulated or enterprise environments
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS and front-end development concepts
- Awareness of Section 508 accessibility standards and inclusive design
- Exposure to DevSecOps or Agile software development environments
- Certifications in UX, HCD, or accessibility
