Genetic Counseling Assistant – Remote
Job Description:
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks that require a high level of attention to detail and excellent customer service skills
- Contact patients and/or clients to obtain pertinent demographic information
- Responsible for performing administrative duties such as data entry and database/log maintenance
- Work with the Genetic Counseling team to manage results to be reported to patients through an innovative approach to providing genetic testing results
- Responsible for obtaining and distributing results to genetic counselors and ensuring that all results are distributed daily for reporting to patients
- Communicate with clients regarding patients whose genetic counselors were unable to reach
Requirements:
- Associates degree with 1 or more years experience in the healthcare industry such as a hospital or physician's office OR Bachelor’s degree with no previous experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or Genetics preferred
- 1 or more years experience working in a clinical genetics laboratory preferred
- 1 or more years experience working as a Genetic Counselor Assistant preferred
- Familiarity with genetic concepts
- Strong computer skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and MS Office Suite
- Strong multi-tasking ability with excellent attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent ability to listen and respond effectively
- Strong flexibility and the ability to manage and adapt to changing priorities quickly
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others and work cooperatively and effectively to set goals, resolve problems and make recommendations
