Senior Manager/Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting Location: Remote-Optional

  • Chicago-area candidates: Hybrid (3 days/week in-office) – Downtown Chicago (Loop, close to train)
  • Close midwestern candidates strongly preferred- 2 weeks travel-in a quarter typical

Compensation: $175,000–$200,000 base + 20% annual bonus + annual long-term incentive (LTI) (Level, title, and compensation aligned to experience) Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) match, paid sick leave where applicable by state law.

Position Overview This is a senior leadership role at the Senior Manager or Director level, responsible for SEC reporting and technical accounting for a global organization. The role partners closely with senior leadership on external reporting, disclosures, and earnings communications, while serving as a key technical accounting resource across the business. The scope, title, and level will be aligned based on experience, with long-term growth potential and meaningful visibility regardless of entry point. The role is remote-optional, with flexibility for qualified candidates outside of the Chicago area. Candidates located in the Chicago metro area are expected to work on a hybrid basis, three days per week in-office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation and filing of SEC reports, including Forms 10‑Q, 10‑K, and earnings releases
  • Own external reporting, disclosures, and earnings communications processes
  • Provide technical accounting leadership, including analysis of complex transactions and adoption of new accounting standards
  • Ensure SOX compliance and maintain a strong internal control environment related to external reporting
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders on SEC reporting and technical accounting matters
  • Present financial reporting conclusions, key disclosures, and technical accounting positions to senior leadership
  • Hire, develop, and mentor a high‑performing team, fostering accountability, quality, and continuous improvement

Experience Required

  • 8+ years of experience in public accounting and/or corporate SEC reporting and technical accounting
  • Public accounting foundation from a Big 4 or national firm strongly preferred
  • CPA required
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and SOX compliance
  • Proven experience leading technical accounting analyses and SEC filings
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with executive and senior stakeholder groups
  • Experience with Active Disclosure or similar SEC reporting platforms preferred
