Freelance Grants Writer — Remote
Freelance Grants Writer — Remote We're expanding our network of freelance grants writers to support a growing pipeline of UK innovation funding work, and we'd like to hear from talented people who want to get involved. About the work You'll be writing grants applications on behalf of UK businesses pursuing competitive government innovation funding. The role isn't about filling in templates — it's about absorbing a client's technology and commercial vision quickly, often from a single founder conversation plus background reading, and translating that into a focused, persuasive submission that stands up against hundreds of other bids. Projects are delivered remotely. You'll have autonomy over how you work, but you won't be on your own: our in-house team handles client management, briefs you in, and reviews your drafts before anything goes out. What we're looking for Essentials: A solid portfolio of grants writing, bid writing, or other high-stakes persuasive writing — we'll ask for examples A scientific or technical foundation — typically a PhD or master's in a STEM field, or equivalent depth gained on the job Sharp written English with the discipline to keep technical material accessible and the structure tight Confidence running interviews with founders, CTOs, and lead scientists, and shaping their words into a coherent narrative An established freelance setup — your own kit, your own rhythm, your own admin under control Nice to have: Domain knowledge in life sciences, deep tech, advanced materials, or software/AI Prior exposure to Innovate UK, Horizon Europe, ARIA, or similar schemes — though we're equally happy to bring on strong writers from adjacent territory (R&D tax credits, investment memos, regulatory submissions) who'll get up the curve fast How we work together Engagements are paid per application, with projects allocated based on technical fit and your capacity at the time. We're building a roster of writers we can come back to repeatedly — this isn't a one-shot gig. Getting in touch Drop us a short introduction, one or two writing samples (a grant, bid, or comparable piece of persuasive long-form work), and an indication of your day rate or per-project pricing. Location doesn't matter to us — the writing does. Apply To This Job
