We’re looking for a Meeting and Events Manager who brings both strategic vision and hands-on leadership to our association events work. This role leads the planning, execution, and evaluation of meetings and events across our Association Management division, ensuring consistent, high-quality experiences for clients and their members.

What You'll Do

Working closely with Association Managers, the Meeting and Events Manager serves in a lead role with clients ensuring expectations are clearly understood, event strategies align with broader service plans, and all meetings and events are delivered with professionalism, consistency, and attention to detail. This role also leads and supports a team of Meeting and Events Coordinators and plays a key role in setting standards, processes, and best practices across all events. Event Strategy, Planning, and Oversight Lead the planning and execution of a diverse portfolio of association meetings and events, including annual conferences, board meetings, educational programs, webinars, and networking events. Work collaboratively with Association Managers to align event strategies with each client’s broader objectives and service plans. Establish and oversee event timelines, workflows, budgets, and quality standards across all association clients. Ensure consistent application of event planning protocols, templates, and best practices. Secure and manage sponsor and vendor partnerships through targeted outreach and alignment with event goals and revenue targets. Identify potential risks, issues, or gaps in planning and proactively address them to ensure successful delivery. Serve as escalation point for complex event issues or high‑level client concerns. Team Leadership and Supervision Supervise, coach, and support Meeting and Events Coordinators. Assign event responsibilities, monitor workloads, and ensure appropriate coverage across multiple clients and events. Provide clear expectations, guidance, and feedback to ensure accountability and performance standards are met. Support onboarding, training, and professional development of event staff. Foster a collaborative, organized, and solution‑focused team culture. Quality Control and Process Management Ensure all events adhere to established standards for planning, documentation, communication, and execution. Ensure the use of required templates, project plans, and shared folders. Review key event deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and professionalism. Continuously evaluate event processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality. Client and Stakeholder Engagement Partner closely with Association Managers to understand client needs, priorities, and expectations related to meetings and events. Collaborate with Association Managers to translate client goals into well‑planned, high‑quality events and meetings that are within contract scope. Ensure clear communication and alignment between the events team, Association Managers, and clients throughout the planning and execution process. Provide strategic guidance and recommendations related to meetings and events to support overall client success. On‑Site and Virtual Event Management Provide leadership presence for select in‑person and virtual events, including on‑site oversight as needed. Ensure smooth execution of logistics, troubleshooting issues in real time, and supporting staff during events. Oversee virtual platforms and technology used for meetings and events. Post‑Event Evaluation and Reporting Oversee post‑event evaluations, feedback collection, and reporting. Review event outcomes and financial performance. Identify trends, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement for future events. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, event management, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in event and meeting planning, including experience leading large events (500+ attendees). Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Demonstrated experience managing complex events and multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of event budgeting, vendor management, and contract coordination. Proficiency with Microsoft 365, virtual meeting platforms, and project management applications. Catalyst currently uses ASANA. Travel & Physical Requirements Periodic travel by car within Michigan and Ohio, with occasional national travel for meetings and events. Ability to attend evening or weekend events as needed. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for event setup and office support. Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer. Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment. Must be able to hear and speak clearly to conduct business over phone, video, and in person. Why Catalyst?
