The Summer Accounting Student will support a targeted Cash Collections Improvement Project by assisting with Accounts Receivable reconciliations, customer statement reviews, and validation of AR balances. The role contributes to improving cash collections by ensuring customer accounts are accurate, well‑supported, and ready for effective follow‑up. Your responsibilities: Prepare and reconcile customer statement of accounts to the AR subledger and general ledger Review aged AR balances to identify discrepancies, unapplied cash, billing errors, or unsupported balances Document reconciliation outcomes and outstanding issues clearly and accurately Assist in resolving differences in coordination with internal stakeholders Support cleanup and validation of customer accounts to ensure balances are accurate and collectible Prepare schedules and summaries to support collection prioritization and follow‑up Identify common root causes of overdue or disputed balances and document findings Maintain organized supporting documentation to support audit and collection efforts Provide limited backup support for routine AR/AP processing as required Assist with filing, data entry, and maintenance of accounting records Support other Finance initiatives or tasks during peak periods as assigned Your Distinctive Ingredients for Success: Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting or Finance is considered an asset. 2–4 years of relevant experience is considered an asset. Basic understanding of accounting principles, including accounts receivable Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., sorting, filtering, basic formulas) Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to follow procedures and meet deadlines Eligibility: You must be legally eligible to work for a Canadian company (e.g., be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or possess a valid work permit) and provide a clear Criminal Background Check.
