Automotive Director of Strategy and Business Development This is a senior, outward-facing role for an automotive market leader with deep understanding of plastics technology and how OEM and Tier supplier decisions are made. The focus is influence, relationships, and shaping where the business invests next across automotive plastics applications. You will own the automotive end-market strategy and serve as the internal and external authority on how automotive trends translate into manufacturing, tooling, and equipment needs. This role exists to open hard-to-access accounts, guide commercial teams with real technical market insight, and connect automotive demand with plastics solutions. Success is measured by credibility built, relationships established, and strategic direction created, not short-term revenue. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the automotive end-market strategy with a focus on plastics applications and equipment.
  • Build senior-level relationships within OEM and Tier 1/2 supplier.
  • Translate market and customer insight into clear product, technology, and investment recommendations.
  • Partner with commercial and product teams to support account access and technical positioning.
  • Represent the business at automotive and plastics-focused industry events and conferences.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of sales experience in the automotive industry.
  • Direct experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers.
  • A strong understanding of plastics manufacturing used in automotive applications.
  • Experience influencing strategy based on market data, customer insight, and industry trends.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%. Primarily in North America but could have some Global travel.

ROLE DETAILS

  • Remote-based. Must be located in a major automotive hub.
  • Compensation is flexible based on experience. This is a high priority position.
