The County of San Diego's County Counsel Department has an opening for LITIGATION INVESTIGATOR These positions may have a teleworking and/or flexible schedule available after an initial training period. Future Salary Increases June 2026 – 4.57% increase to base pay (3.50% Across-the-Board + 1.07% Market Adjustment) June 2027 – 4.07% increase to base pay (3.00% Across-the-Board + 1.07% Market Adjustment) Litigation Investigators conduct pre-trial investigations and discovery in complex and/or significant tort and civil litigation where the county or its officers and employees are a named party; and to perform other related work as required. They provide support to County Counsel attorneys and claims personnel by developing and evaluating presentations of factual information and physical evidence and preparing cases through trial proceedings and the settlement of claims. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening. - Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results. - Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.   • Three (3) years of full-time paid investigative experience involving civil litigation, juvenile dependency (involving defense investigative or civil liability), or public liability claims (involving bodily injury, personal injury claims, property damage, and traffic accidents); OR
  • Three (3) years of full-time paid experience involving investigative duties in any capacity as an employee for another public agency; OR
  • Three (3) years of full time paid experience as an insurance claims adjuster or as a licensed private investigator; OR,
  • Three (3) years of experience as a Claims Representative II and/or Confidential Senior Paralegal with the County of San Diego's Office of County Counsel

Also Required Positions may involve necessary and timely transportation for field travel, requiring the ability to arrange transportation to different worksites, meetings, or field work.
