Overview

Join DfflyerDirect as a 3D Environment Art Intern. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills in creating immersive, visually stunning environments for commercial flight simulator products. You will execute defined projects independently under the direction of our lead developer, gaining hands-on experience crafting detailed 3D assets that ship to real customers flying through Microsoft Flight Simulator. If you’re passionate about computer graphics, environment design, and pushing creative boundaries, this is the perfect role to elevate your portfolio and kickstart your career in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Independently execute assigned 3D environment projects using industry-standard software such as Blender, Maya, or Unreal Engine
  • Develop detailed assets including architecture, props, and set dressing that align with provided art direction and reference imagery
  • Texture assets using PBR workflows in Substance Painter, including UV unwrapping, baking, and authoring full map sets (albedo, normal, roughness, metallic, emissive)
  • Self-manage project timelines and deliverables against defined briefs and style guides
  • Participate in feedback sessions to iterate on environment designs based on direction and project requirements

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program related to digital art, game design, computer graphics, or a similar field
  • Proficient in 3D software such as Blender, Maya, ZBrush, Mudbox or Cinema 4D
  • Skilled in PBR texturing using Substance Painter (Substance Designer a plus)
  • Solid grasp of UV unwrapping, baking, and texture map authoring for real-time use
  • Experience with asset management tools such as Perforce or version control systems is a plus
  • Self-directed work ethic with strong time management; ability to take a brief, deliver independently, and iterate on feedback
  • Strong communication skills with an eye for detail
