Kannada Localization Translator
Job Description:
- Localize all marketing and product copies, ensuring they are accurate, charismatic, and reflect Duolingo’s style guide and requirements
- Attend meetings/consult with fellow team members to discuss translations and align on style, tone, and vocabulary
- Contribute to the development of in-house style guides for Kannada
- Conduct QA on the live app to ensure that original content is not only correct and understandable for the Kannada audience, but also engaging and compelling
Requirements:
- Native fluency in Kannada and full professional fluency in English
- 3+ years of experience in translating, transcreation, proofreading, and/or copywriting for a Kannada audience
- Experience localizing online, mobile, and/or game products
- Ability to evaluate TTS audio in native language with a skilled ear to report on quality, including details such as nuances in accents
- Desire to learn how to edit and triage TTS in native language for output across in-app and marketing content
- Experience reviewing, annotating, and refining Large Language Model (LLM) outputs for linguistic accuracy, tone, cultural nuance, and factual correctness is strongly preferred
- A portfolio of past work to demonstrate your expertise
- Strong interest in Duolingo and our mission
- Ability to work 25-30 hrs/week (workload may vary from week to week)
