Solar Designer (Must Have Commercial Solar Experience)
Role: Solar Designer # of Openings: 1 Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Location: Remote Compensation: $55,000 to $85,000 per year, plus bonuses Job Overview Our client, one of the fastest-growing commercial solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies in the nation, is looking to bring on an exceptional Solar Designer to support a growing portfolio of solar projects across the US. This is a full-time role with our client. Job Responsibilities
- Template Creation & Standardization:
Lead the initiative to create, standardize, and optimize AutoCAD templates to streamline future engineering workflows and improve turnaround times for the department.
- Drafting & Design:
Draft accurate, detailed plan sets for solar PV systems, ensuring all electrical and structural line diagrams meet local AHJ and utility requirements.
- Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with other members of the engineering division, as well as project managers, to ensure designs align with site conditions and operational goals.
- Plan Revisions:
Quickly and accurately process revisions to drawings based on feedback from AHJ permit reviewers, structural engineers, or field personnel.
- Document Management:
Maintain a highly organized digital filing system for all project drawings, templates, and engineering documentation. Successful Candidates Must Have:
- AutoCAD Expertise:
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD is required, with specific, proven experience in creating and managing custom templates from scratch.
- Solar Industry Experience:
Prior experience drafting plan sets for residential or commercial solar PV systems.
- Code Knowledge:
A strong foundational understanding of NEC codes, utility interconnection standards, and basic structural requirements for solar installations.
- Startup Mentality:
An adaptable, entrepreneurial mindset; you must be comfortable wearing multiple hats and helping to build processes from the ground up.
- Attention to Detail:
Exceptional precision and organizational skills to ensure highly accurate plan sets and minimize permit rejection rates.
