Advanced Mechanical Engineer [Flex Work Arrangement]

Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a Mechanical Engineer position focused on advanced thermal and structural analysis for undersea hardware components. This opportunity offers a flexible onsite/remote work arrangement in North Carolina, with a contract length of 12-24 months with the possibility of going direct. The pay rate is $58.38 per hour. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with at least 5 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree plus 3 years of experience. A Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable timeframe after hire. The work schedule is first shift. In this role you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to:

  • Perform thermal analysis and structural analysis on complex undersea mechanical hardware and critical system components
  • Develop and validate finite element analysis (FEA) models, simulation studies, and design performance assessments

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Science, Engineering, Technology, Mathematics, or related discipline plus 5+ years of mechanical engineering, analysis, or simulation experience, OR
  • A Master’s degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance must be obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities:

  • Strong background in structural analysis, thermal analysis, and FEA methodologies
  • Advanced proficiency with ANSYS — required
  • Strong MATLAB experience for simulation, modeling, analysis, and data interpretation
  • Strong proficiency with 3D CAD tools, mechanical modeling, and drawing creation
  • Experience supporting complex mechanical hardware or undersea system designs
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, fabrication techniques, and DFM principles
  • Knowledge of government, military, and industry engineering standards
  • Experience leading complex projects, trade studies, and engineering design reviews
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports, proposals, and technical papers
  • Collaborative, innovative mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to thrive in cross-functional defense engineering environments
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth
